Buying green permits being mean

That sounds about right...like Gore and his carbon credits.

Kathy Meeh said...

Lois, funny but the cross-over to Al Gore from and Canadian college age students who are environmentalists cheating on their tests is demeaning to the several year work and attention Al Gore has brought to Global Warming, a potentially earth destruction issue.

In looking for resources, I excluded the "scientist debate" video produced a FOX commentator. The evidence seems to indicate the earth is warming, and the seas are rising whether or not the link is CO2.

Lord have mercy. I wouldn't trust Al Gore to babysit my dog.

I've told you before how I feel about how the earth is going. It either exists or it doesn't. It has a life span, too. We don't have control over it so be prepared to meet your Maker.

I just watched 2012. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

Unknown said...

That is a true statement. "We are all going to die". Just depends if you know where you are going. Jesus promises eternal life. You get to choose life or death.

Anonymous said...

More of "the truth:" One should only feel morally superior if one is morally superior.

Kathy Meeh said...

As you said we're all going to die, beyond that good luck. Lois wish you and others would scroll down and take the religious/philosophical quizzes I posted last Sunday. I'll be interested in your findings. Surprise at the top of one of those quizzes, I'm a Deist.

Needless to say I have a better opinion of Al Gore than you.

Unknown said...

I didn't start the fight...I don't know what you mean. Are you saying we are not going to die?

Unknown said...

Of course you have a better opinion of Al Gore, Kathy. He's making tons of money, lives in a house that expends more energy than you or I will use in 10 life times. How is he making his money right now? Bury your head in the sand, Kathy.

I don't need to take a test to know where I am. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, rose again so that I might have eternal life. I believe that this is not the end of life as we know it on earth. I know that I have forgiveness of sins and strive to live a life that is glorifying to Him. Life does not make sense to me without God.

I will have to look up Deist and get back to you. Maybe I will take the test. Maybe.

Unknown said...

Looked up Deist. I do not understand it.You do not believe in a God that causes you to fear. So you have no fear?

Steve Sinai said...

I don't worry about whether there's a God or not, so I don't live in fear. There may be a supreme being, but I don't believe he/she/it gives a damn about what we do on this earth.

Kathy Meeeh said...

I do not care about 2012. It was all over when my one and only Jeffy Poo moved to Texas.

The sky isn't as blue, the clouds not as white, the Ocean doesn't look as deep, the birds don't chirp as loud!

Kathy Meeh said...

Yes, I miss Jeff, Robbyn and their family. And, Jeff was a major intellectual contribution to our ongoing effort here. He has been a great friend to all of us. Even you Jim Alex until you stabbed him in the back, moron-- is that you Jim?

Kathleen Rogan said...

Everybody take a day off and have a drink. Let's be friends. It's St.Patrick's Day.

Anonymous said...

Who is Jim Alex and why do you think he stabbed anyone in the back?

Jim Alex said...

Kathy

No It wasn't me. There is more important things going on in the world other then you and Jeff.

Your mouth is going to get you in trouble speaking without knowing the facts.

You been warned twice now!!!

Kathy Meeh said...

Jim, get me into trouble? Now you have threatened me twice, whereas the commentary profile fits you twice-- in my opinion, which should be unnecessary to say since this is public conversation.

jim alex said...

Kathy

Opinions are like noses. every one has one

I told Jeff, and Steve which posts where mine.

I have no reason to hide behind posts just as when I see you I have no reason to tell you to knock this BS off

jim alex said...

Kathy

Opinion is like noses, everyone has one.

I told Jeff, and Steve, which posts where mine. Like I said, more important things going on in the world then Jeff and you

The conversation we had about Jeff, was a private conversation, you chose to run to him and tell him everything.

Now you can not be trusted. In my culture that is a rat. A rat is someone who not only can not be trusted, but it is a known fact that they have zero credibility.

Sorry you where looking for the truth but just like in the movie, A Few Good Men, maybe some of you can not handle the truth.

Kathy Meeh said...

Jim, you are looking in the mirror, and you have also posted under alternative names, which is your choice-- but, if you choose to go after me, I'll respond, and you probably won't like that.

I didn't start what appears to be your comment post, you did. And if not you it must have been a really was a close chum-twin who speaks with similar voice. You may want to tell him or her to knock it off. Got it?

I never wanted to be anything but your friend, nor did Jeff-- the disruption issue is completely on you. And, I'm still not your enemy, but I'm weary of you based upon experience.

Steve Sinai said...

I don't think it was Jim, Kathy. Jeff made lots of enemies in town, so you can't assume that Jim is the source of any mocking or negative comments about Jeff.

Kathy Meeh said...

Thanks for your comments Steve, but given the tone and the known personal history in this issue, as well as the recent separate swipes at me, I have no reason to believe its anyone other than Jim.

I don't know about actual enemies, but Jeff has made a lot of friends in this city, including the 4500 people who voted for him last election.

If possible lets call a truce to this and try to move forward.

When I was in Tahoe when the shit hit the fan on this site. You blamed me. Then you went back and counted the time I was gone. Yes, I went up for a long day trip to deal with some HOA issues. Once again your talking out of class.

I emailed Steve, and Jeff. Steve responded but Jeff didn't so be it. I said my piece.

This is the reason why the P4P site and group died.

If I did something call me out on it, but don't attach my name to something if I didn't do it.

Kathy Meeh said...

No 99.9% you didn't take the marathon trip to Tahoe, because with the other email under a "pen name" you did claim the time table doesn't work.

Somehow you've stated a confused view about P4P, a different group was formed.

I don't think you tell the truth, but at this point does it really matter? Not to me.

jim alex said...

99% sure I didn't go to Tahoe?

Want to put some money where your mouth is? How bout a couple grand?

Steve, holds the money? How much the register sign in at my HOA, Gas receipts, how about verifcation from a couple appointments I had in town that day?

How bout a note from my Mom???

It sounds like your starting to go way off the deep end. Maybe you need a vacation?

jim alex said...

P4P failed right when you and Jeff took over, The only time people came to the meetings is when Pooch came out.

Bark Nuggets said...

I should have known what was up with this blog when I first started visiting and someone posted a picture of a trash-strewn beach in Pacifica and discussed his clean-up efforts. This guy was attacked, mocked and his credibility questioned -- a guy whose "crime" was literally cleaning up Pacifica. I mean, people were actually suggesting the picture was doctored! I remember thinking, "What is wrong with these people?"

Since then I've seen all sorts of foul language, name-calling, personal insults, self-identification with Aryan Race/neo-nazi sites, conspiracy theories that would make Art Bell blush, and generally embarassing, aggressive behaviour among contributers that I wouldn't tolerate in my 10-year-old son, let alone among a group of adults. Do people no longer know or care to moderate themselves and behave respectfully?

The fear and hatred prevelant on this blog is depressing. Fix Pacifica? Not likely when you've succeeded in marginalizing yourselves in this manner and throw tantrums rather than engage in civil dialogue.

How do you expect residents of this city to be open to your vision of Pacifica's future or entrust its governance to council candidates of your preference when you can't even get your act together on a blog?

Embarassing.

Kathleen Rogan said...

You're over reacting , Bark. Calm down.

Kathy Meeh said...

Bark, you forgot the ponographic comment some weirdo posted a few days back, all under anonymous and "pen names" of course. So, you're looking at the downside of an uncensured comment blog in which articles may be posted by persons who identify themselves.

As you know, the message from city council is manicured, and the city is not fixed. On this PUBLIC blog, many articles and many comments, including yours are reliable and worth reading.

We move forward looking for factual information, and hope for greater civility. Some of us would prefer "real names" in commentary, but then your comment would be excluded.

Jim Alex, in your instance, maybe a note from Mom would work for you. Again my opinion is based upon time sequence, your profile (how you present) and your history. And, since you can not even get comments about P4P correct (and out of context for this conversation) its hard to know what you distinguish. And, because of my observation, hence opinion in a public forum you are again threatening me. Nice guy.

Anonymous said...

Bark is right, the level of discourse on this site is at the sewer level. If Ms. Meeh doesn't know that Jeff Simons made enemies, then she leads a very sheltered life. No one goes into politics in this town and doesn't make enemies.

The constant cheer of "city council is bad" and no definitive solution chases most of the common sense people away. This blog, while free of editing and very open, has gotten away from what it said it would be, which is how to fix Pacifica. I expected too much I guess, I thought you were going to provide reasonable discussion about things that are wrong with this City and instead, we get temper tantrums, threats and weird personal vendettas against someone who quite possibly did nothing. But I'll never know, and I don't care anymore. I'm done with this site.

jim alex said...

Kathy

So you are sure it was me,99% sure but not sure enough to put up some money!!!

Sorry but no you are crying you are the victim.

You said it was me when I wasn't in town and continue to spew the nonsense.

Actually, my Mom would twist your ear and bring you down to the grade school and let you sit in class for a bit.

Kathleen Rogan said...

Yeah, but we got your attention, didn't we?

fixpacifica, while has some wild debates, also has some very much needed information posted about Pacifica and our city neighbors.

fixpacifica won't make everyone happy all at the same time.

fixpacifica is still fairly new and working out bugs, improving as it goes along.

fixpacifica is the place to read and post. The only open blog in town.

Bark Nuggets said...

I don't know what is desired by the regulars here on this site. Whenever someone posts something that isn't in line with their views, that person is castigated in a personal way, with venom, potty-mouthed language, and tin-foil hat diatribes. If you don't want to consider other points of view, enjoy your echo-chamber I guess?

I've shown my wife postings in this blog over the last month and she can't believe the behavior of people. This blog isn't in any way constructive. In fact, it's destructive and I don't want any more part in it, so I'm going to take my leave too, along with Anonymous above.

There's no way you guys will get your agenda enacted in Pacifica if you can't even behave like adults on a little ol' blog.

Bye.

Kathy Meeh said...

Please be constructive, how do you propose this PUBLIC blog being an uncensured, and unmonitored without controversy?

It would be lovely to avoid conflict, so how can that happen?

Kathleen Rogan said...

He wants a blog where everyone is nice and mostly agrees.

How?

Start censoring and don't allow any articles that would upset a very small majority of people.

Steve Sinai said...

I'm afraid I agree with Bark's observations. An unmoderated blog is bound to get ugly at times, but if the blog is dominated by people pursing personal vendettas, tantrum-throwers, and political extremists obsessed with communists, we won't get anything accomplished. We'll look like wackos and end up driving people away in disgust.

Kathleen Rogan said...

I doubt it.

Anonymous said...

"We'll look like wackos and end up driving people away in disgust."

Already have.

Bye.

Anonymous said...

Too late.

Kathleen Rogan said...

I doubt it. I doubt it very much. Maybe you need to get out and visit other blogs that talk about many different issues and events.

Or, lose people with the same, over and over boring discussions that go nowhere. Events that are meaningless to the majority. Issues that no one really cares about.

Riptide=lost
Tribune=lost

Take your chances. Start censoring. Force people to give their real name. Keep all of the same one sided point of view. Stay soft. Stay nice. Become irrelevant. Lose your right. Stay the same. Give up. Cringe at the names called , crawl into a hole. Back off, back up. Don't talk to your neighbors, let them believe you're really nice. Ha!

Not me.

Kathy Meeh said...

Bark, the journey to fixing Pacifica is an eco-chamber, it might not be your eco-chamber. Citizens have been taken-in by the alternative governing city council and "friends" eco-chamber for years. All nice behavior, but citizens have been taken for a true anti-city economic ride.

Similar to you, I don't like some of the divergent commentary and articles. At the same time, I recognize I may be part of the negative commentary you cite.

Because an alternative voice is needed in this city, rather than run from this blog I would hope and encourage the eco-chamber of voices which want something better for this city to contribute in a productive way with intelligent articles and comments.

Kathleen makes some good points about the open nature of this blog.

Kathleen Rogan said...

Pacifica does not generate much news on a daily basis.

Other then the City Council meetings once a week. Did anyone attend monday of this weeks meeting?
Maybe you should have that way you could blog about it or was it just to boring?

In between the exciting day to day events, month to month, year after year? What are you going to talk about? Frogs? yeah I saw that. Anybody read it? yeah.

Look at the headline for this thread, look at it!

"Buying Green permits being Mean"

You got 41 people posting under a headline that looks like a wacko giving his finger. People are drawn to it, they can't help themselves. Then they want to complain about someone called someone a name. And, now threats, under anonymous names, that they won't read fixpacifica anymore.

Yeah, go ahead , steve. Be the nice guy. Shut it down. We are to thin skin. To sheltered. To above it all. Never to stoop so low.

Maybe we should not play politics. Thank God I saved my comic books.

Steve Sinai said...

Over on Riptide they have a semi-intelligent discussion going on about Highway 1, with multiple viewpoints involved. Meanwhile, Fix Pacifica is deep into a personal spat and endless, eye-rolling comments about how Obama, liberals, Democrats and unions want to destroy America.

At the moment, which site is doing the better job serving Pacifica?

Kathleen Rogan said...

Neither. But, at least people are talking more here. You really think Riptide can fix highway one with their "semi-intelligent" discussions?

Anonymous said...

I see that Todd Bray is advocating alternative transport. I'd donate $100 each to a highway widening fund to see either him or John Curtis ride a bike more than a hundred yards.

Steve Sinai said...

"But, at least people are talking more here."

Quantity doesn't equate with quality. The old Pacifica-L list got lots more action than either Fix Pacifica or Riptide, but all people did was scream and yell and insult each other, and that's why it died. My biggest fear with the unmoderated nature of Fix Pacifica has always been that it would turn into another Pacifica-L.

"You really think Riptide can fix highway one with their "semi-intelligent" discussions?"

I doubt they'll solve the Highway 1 problem on Riptide, but at least with the interplay of ideas, there might be a chance of a worthwhile suggestion popping up.

Scotty said...

Kathleen, council meetings aren't weekly -- the council members are just compensated as if they were.

Kathleen Rogan said...

Riptide, back in 2008 before elections, became so low and dirty saying the most horrible things and posting ugly pictures about Sarah Palin and John McCain. I was not allowed to do the same to Obama.

So , I don't believe that the people that talk on riptide can fix anything let alone a flat tire. Maybe just Lionel. All they do is talk smack and put people down that they don't like or agree with. Many post here anonymously and read this blog. That is the first indication of someone who is insecure in what they are saying in fear that the majority will look upon them as the cities nut cases and loons. They are the, like Kathy has said on countless times, do nothing group. Like one of the city leaders said, if we don't do anything the state will come in and fix it. I hope that council member didn't do that to their family.

The proof is in the pudding. Riptide lost readers and so has the tribune due to the fact that the local loons write columns and are running the paper. Until that paper starts supporting all Pacificans , I don't see it as a relevant news source for local events. Safeway does a better job.

Steve Sinai said...

"All they do is talk smack and put people down that they don't like or agree with."

Sounds like us, too.

Kathy Meeh said...

Got ideas for workable improvement? At one time Steve you mentioned name identification posting. Having said that Anonymous and Scotty made two funny comments of merit above.

The distinction between the Riptide view and administration vs. Fix Pacifica is clear, neither is neutral. Kathleen mentioned having article postings excluded from Riptide. Think we've all been there by article or comment failure or alteration.

Upset, diversion and private tantrums are upsetting at the level of blog conversation, but Bark stretched that argument to consideration of enacting a city agenda (prior to him signing-off). He said "there's no way you guys will get your agenda enacted in Pacifica if you can't even behave like adults on a little ol' blog."

So, tell me tell me how those two ideas connect if you're not city council or running for city council. Needless to say the 8 year city council agenda has succeeded, as a result the city economy has failed. What happened on this article, was merely a tantrum. Moving on.

Todd Bray said...

That jerk Simons got me kicked off the Planning Commission.

Do you think I would not come on here and thrash him???

Anonymous said...

"Needless to say the 8 year city council agenda has succeeded, as a result the city economy has failed. What happened on this article, was merely a tantrum. Moving on."

No, you're not moving on, just like all the others that are signing off, I'm signing off as well. This is not a tantrum, this is warring factions. All this group wants to do is fight about things that have nothign to do wtih anything related to fixing a problem. You can't even have a civil discussion without brining in religion, climate change or Nazis. There is no fixing on this site, its just shouting at the rain.

Steve Sinai said...

I'm sorry Todd, but I won't remove comments unless they're commercial spam or unless someone is blatantly being accused of doing something illegal without evidence. Otherwise, I'd end up removing half the comments simply because someone was offended.

People have posted annoying fake comments under my name, but even then I didn't take the comments down.

I agree that it's Simons screwing around. You should take solace in the fact that "my side" is self-destructing again.

Oh, and it looks as though Todd McCune Bray has joined the extended family at Fix Pacifica. Thank God! Sure looks like Pacifica is gonna get “fixed” now… Wonder if he’ll be bunking with Butler, Saunders or Nugget 2-nite? Pillow fight! Tickle-fest! Move over Massa and let the boyz in… Looks like the only way Pacifica is gonna get fixed now is for the U.S.D.A. to declare Pacifica is a pizza and then Todd will eat it.

It's interesting that it seems to be the "unmoderated" nature of this blog, rather than the ability to post anonymously that drives the poor signal to noise ratio. Most of the people posting tinfoil-hat right-wing garbage, childish tantrums, and personal attacks are presumably using their real names (with one obvious exception who apparently can't admit that he's lurking after grabbing his marbles and running off to pout).
