ACORN part of our economic downfall

I tried to paste this to Kathy's stuff on ACORN but don't know how to make it a link.

Editor's Note: Blogger doesn't let you insert workable links into comments.

Again, where is the proof? Acorn has an easy state-to-state organization structure with lots of little offices, but I found nothing legal, neutral, unbiased, or legislative which tied Acorn organization to these allegations that you have referenced.

"Main Street Radical" has a side area for Republicans to set-up their own websites or blogs-- and as stated in the title the blog is more "radical" and less "main street", so this information is again unsubstantiated political opinion.

What I find eminently disturbing about that article is that a United States Senator like Mike Johanns (R-NE) does not understand the difference between "voter fraud" and "voter registration fraud". ACORN has never been accused of voter fraud, which is the actual tallying of fraudulent votes at the polls. ACORN workers definitely registered voters like "Mickey Mouse", but the law requires ACORN to file those registrations until they are challenged by the state.

Funny how none of the people so quick to condemn ACORN have ever said a word about Diebold and the actual voter fraud perpetrated in the 2004 election in Ohio, or the mass voter disenfranchisement perpetrated by the Florida Secretary of State in the 2000 election . . . but you know what? Whether any of that is true or not, I don't blame the outcome of the 2000 election on Florida any more than I blame the outcome of the 2004 election on Ohio any more than I think people unhappy with the 2008 election results should blame ACORN.

(My opinion: Gore lost the 2000 election by distancing himself from Clinton, who had the clout to swing at least 2 more states in Gore's favor. I thought Kerry took too long to respond to the Swift Boat attacks in 2004 and appeared too timid to be leader of the nation)

The bottom line is that ACORN LEGALLY registered over 1 million new voters, and many of those voters exercised their Constitutional rights to vote for Obama. Unless the people attacking ACORN want to discredit the LEGAL voters they helped register.

As for ACORN's role in the market collapse, its laughable. That's like blaming the user for a drug epidemic, when the drug being pushed was legal and the ill side effects of the drug were never disclosed to the users. Go after the damn banks who profited from these mortgages and then took bailout money to pay bonuses, please.

So it was okay for them to register bogus voters until someone challenged them? That sounds like a plan.

Obama is on the record when he was Senator Obama that he would sit down with these community organizations so that they could help him "shape the agenda" when he was elected President.

I'm not as smart as you in some aspects, Jeff, but I can discern when something is screwy. (My opinion: ACORN is a crooked organization).

I know Kathy doesn't like my information sources but there is a video of Senator Obama speaking to community organizers.

Organizing communities is DANGEROUS!! Communities should sit back and do whatever their government says. That's the American way, and anyone who disagrees is a COMMIE!!!

Wait, that means every single person on this blog is a COMMIE... I'm going to have to pray on that for awhile and see if I can receive some guidance from Rush through my tinfoil hat.

PS: I think lots of the ACORN people are coloreds like in Detroit, and I don't trust them. They aren't white like Gavin.

no it is definitely not OK, but in the scope of the million plus voters ACORN did legally register, its a pretty minor number, not a plan. Also, no one could go to the polls and vote as "Mickey Mouse".

I honestly couldn't tell you if its a few bad apples spoiling the whole bunch, but there seems to be a willingness to believe a few isolated incidents represents the entire organization. By that logic, could I argue that the Republican Party is controlled by homosexuals because of Ted Haggard, Charlie Crist, Mark Foley, Jeff Gannon, and Larry Craig?

What a great argument Jeff! Let's label them all.

My opinion is that ACORN is a crooked organization.

Mickey Mouse will be removed rolls the same as real or other artificial persons who are not eligible to vote. What's the big deal?

Organizations registering people to vote receive a few dollars per registration I believe. Maybe the same organizations can also earn a few dollars by registering and "labeling" humans with all cultural, political, religious, economic, gender, ethnic type, physical characteristics, attitude, and hormonal variations-- a regular census activity discovery. Which ones will not be allowed to vote? Probably the evolved, intelligent ones.
