Center for Biological Diversity throws a hissy fit

Self-described "Bad Golfer" Mike Wallach has a blog discussing the situation at Sharp Park, with some thoughts about a recent press release from the Center for Biological Diversity that vilifies the SF-funded study which recommended the golf course remain 18 holes.

There's a link to the CBD's press release in Mike's blog entry.

My bad golf has been well documented over the last 20 years and cannot be disputed. However I did break 100 at Sharp and birdied #9 a couple weeks ago.

Thanks Lois.

My Riptide post to Kathy Jana aka Brent Plater asserations that only Peninsula people play golf at Sharp Park.

Kathy Jana says "Best of all for San Francisco, SF taxpayers would no longer pay so the Peninsula can play; we'll leave that for the GGNRA".

Again Ms Jana your facts as to play by "the Peninsula" are wrong. Resident card holders, which include only players from SF and Pacifica has accounted for 36% of all rounds played at Sharp Park for the last 5 years. Close to 75% of these rounds are by SF residents. 31 % of all rounds played at Sharp's in the last 5 years have been by senior resident card holders. Non resident play has accounted for only 10%, that is 10% of all rounds played at Sharp Park. These are the facts pure and simple. How do explain your incorrect characteraztions?

Also, tell how turning Sharp Park into a frog and snake park would be a tourist destanation?

Rememeber that 54073 18 rounds of golf have been played in the fiscal year 08-09. That is 54073 golfers spending money in Pacifica and supporting a truly hometon business. This number does not take into account twilight rounds, played during the summer months when golfers play a quick nine holes after work. These golfers may stay for a few drinks and dinner after their round. These are dollars spent in Pacifica and generating sales tax revenue. This will not happen with a frog park.

Please stop saying that only Peninsulan's are playing goilf at Sharp Park because it is simply not true, not true in the least.

Gee Butch, I never saw that post on Riptide...were you expunged for telling truths?

Well I just sent it to him this morning. We'll see if he posts it. Doubtful I think.

Mike,

when I spoke before the planning commission to get them to declare the golf course a historical landmark, I stated that my handicap was higher than my IQ. A few chuckles from the golf crowd, delayed joke that took a few seconds to sink in. Welcome to the Hackers Club!

Ok this is interesting.

Not sure what is going on here, but I may have to get my tin foil hat fitted.

Yesterday, when I did a google blog search on "sharp park golf" sorted by Date, both this post, and the linked post from my blog with the same title showed up in the results list (I have a screen shot showing this).

Today when I do the same search, posts that are prior to and after this post from both Fix Pacifica and MW Mobile Blog are in the results, but this post and mine with the graphic and CBD in the title are no longer showing up.

For a link is to the relevant search CLICK HERE

CBD could not have gotten to Google...

Could they?

I just know that search results for Google aren't necessarily static, so you can do a search on a phrase and get one result - and then an hour or two later, search on the same phrase and get a different result.

@sinai
Yeah, I know that - but the Blog search by date is a different animal than a standard google search. It has been relatively stable and predictable for me in the past. That's why I use it.

Post # 2 today to Riptide & Kathy Jana (aka Plater).

"It's not a choice of keeping or not keeping a golf course; it's a choice of paying to keep the sea out".

Alright, which is it? Snakes & Frogs or keeping the sea out of Sharp Park? This statement seems to prove that you guys can't make up your mind and don't really care about the frog and snakes but care about the land, and taking it over. Are you finally realinzing that snakes and frogs can't live in salt water?

" With global warming, no one disagrees with the estimates of the Pacific Institute, which predict water up to Highway 1 regularly over the next 50 to 100 years".

If the above statement is true than why not leave us golfers alone so we can golf for as long as possible at Sharp Park? I'll be 90 then and hopefully still swinging away. If the sea really does go up to Highway 1 regularly, Pacifica has alot more problems than this. We better start building a seawall from Manor all the way to Pedro Point.

You nailed it Butch. Dealing with these guys is a whack-a-mole problem. You have to understand what they are doing. It is deliberate. It is intentional. It is conscious obfuscation. It is trial lawyer trickery. When the the new mole pops up out of the hole (Destroy the course to protect the snake from global warming and the sea!), attention is distracted from the last mole (Destroy the course to protect the snake from golf operations!).

The Rec and Parks report definitively whacked the "golf operations" mole. So now we have new mole pop up. It does not matter that it is completely nonsensical. Once people realize how truly stupid this is (we have to destroy the course NOW to protect the snake from a catastrophe that will destroy all of Pacifica, Oceanside, Golden Gate Park, Alameda, the Marina, SFO, etc. etc.) Then another mole will pop up. The whole point is to distract attention from the previously whacked mole.

Brent Plater is a winner! The only groups he works for are the human race, animals and plants. Brent is an unusually dedicated person to preservation of the earth. He is mostly uncompensated for the amazing number of hours he devotes to these causes. Please get to know the individual you have disrespected. You will become a believer in his causes.

@Sammy
Oh wait... For a second there I thought you wrote that he was a wiener. My bad.

Anyway - thanks for for counsel. To reciprocate, I have one bit of friendly advice for you. If Brent ever asks you to drink some kool-aid...

Don't.

She got tired of your little worm and decided to go for the big snake, Penisless in Pacifica.

But the big snake was from San Francisco. Didn't she know all the snakes from SF are gay? The fact that he wore garters should have been a clue...
