It’s been three months since a plan was approved to overhaul the bullet-riddled Sharp Park Rifle Range, and construction could start soon.
The Recreation and Park Commission is scheduled to vote Thursday on a contract to start excavating about 15,000 cubic yards of soil contaiminated with lead shot at the range.The range was closed in 1988 after bullets were discovered in a nearby residential area, according to DTSC which is overseeing the soil removal action plan.
The removal was initially supposed to start a couple years ago, but the former project manager with the DTSC said he thinks an endangered species issue postponed it for a while.
In 1917, Sam Murphey and Jenny Murphey, donated 450 acres to the City and County of San Francisco with a deed restricting it to recreational land use, and The City made it into the six-acre rifle range site and the Sharp Park Golf Course, according to the state Department of Toxic Substance Control.

Wasn't John Curtis an active member of some sort of Sharp Park-Palmetto coalition whose objective was to block any redevelopment or changes to that area back in that timeframe?
I would bet my left testicle (if I hadn't been neutered) that Curtis and his environmental, blight loving buddies told the S.P. resdidents that all they had to do was claim they were finding bullet shells under their cereal bowls and the big, bad, noisy gun shooters would be sent packing. Perhaps as far East as, say Miami...
Anyone missing the parallel here with the unsubstantiated findings of mauled San Francisco Garter Snakes "found" directly on the fairways of the S.P. golf links?

How do people believe this **bleeeeep**?? When I was little my daddy took me there and we used to shoot. My father the super safety man that he was would never shoot anywhere if there was a chance that bullets would accidentally end up in someones home. John Curtis and his like have an agenda. It's an agenda that believes humans need to be extinct. People Wake Up!
What if I wake up and find John Curtis lying next to me? What then?

I mean, normally I would chew on grass in order to throw up. I guess that will do instead...
I have spent years scouring the internet visiting and reading websites. The websites that suppport the type of acitvism that frog and snake people support are very scary. They hide their agenda by getting people and our children into beleiving that frogs and snakes must come first and man and woman are the problems of the world's environment. With the highest suicide rate among our young people today, I have to wonder if it is from their type of indoctrination that they force to be taught in public schools and their communities to beleive that humans cause frogs and snakes to die.I yearn for the days where smokey the bear would visit the schools and ask the kids don't litter and don't play with matches. Instead they are telling our young people that humans are killers and bad for the environment. Young people today are struggling with a feeling of worthlessness. From what I researched, these are normal kids, no other signs of problems. What do they have to look forward to? They are told; don't eat beef and drink milk, you can't build a house on that land you just bought because of a weed grows there, you have no right to make money and keep it because the poor immigrant that is new here can't do that, so give him what profit you make. Or, even worse, you lost your job and can't pay your registration, license fee, car ins, but you can and will be fined anyway. But, if you are here illegally you get a pass and get NO FINE and get to keep your uninsured car. WHAT KIND OF A WORLD DO WE LIVE IN!! Americans that sit on their arse and allow this , deserve to have everything they worked for taken away. Fight back. You don't have to take it anymore.
I am one of the noisy shooters that went to Sharp Park. How could bullets go to residential areas? It was a mountain as a backstop. Unless the bullet know how to turn corners.
I remember going to the Sharp Park Rifle when I was in my 20's now I am in my 50's. I wonder when the range will be open for business again? Will it be in my lifetime?
