Expect a big announcement today at the beginning of the council meeting

you heard it here first

Is it the same as Riptide and p.c.'s friday posts on the city council shakeup?

Keep your eyes and ears open!

722, 944, 1120 no surprise, no information-- the link on NIMBY Riptide blog is from NIMBY Dan Stegink's rumor mill website. He must be look for some internet traffic, so here's the Crespi road there. Dan Stegink, aka: pacifica.city.

Anonymous said...

Thing I don't like about Pacifica.City is the week old Tribune articles.
Everything else is great.

Kathy Meeh (concession to waste of time comment) said...

142, yep, we do the the week old (and older) Tribune articles, and we like doing that for meaningful local discussion.
If it were up to me though, there would be no Anonymous comments.

I'm sure you also enjoy the comment exchange on Pacifica.Stegink, right Dan?

Anonymous said...

Kathy

If you had no anonymous comments you would get 4 comments a day

Anonymous said...

Dropping the anonymous comments is a great idea Kathy.

Kathy Meeh said...

313, thanks! Considering the Anonymous NIMBY traffic here lately, "4 comments" would be 100% higher traffic than exists on Riptide blog raceway.
Pacifica.Stegnik already offers the "alternative": comment road closure.

Anonymous comments can be good when they deal with benign and factual information. At the same time, it is interesting how people manage to use their real names on Nextdoor, even though not all the comments are about free stuff, and lost pets.
Sure Anonymous 336, dropping the anonymous comments is a great idea. Guess you mean, you first.

I'm a senior and this blog is a good alternative for me to having to leave the house and go meet people. It would be nice if I knew who I was really talking to. My daughter says "Don't put your real name on their mom", but it would build more of a community and less of a hit and run group. Just one woman's two cents worth.

Also larger type would help your website is so small.

Anonymous said...

414 I think so too I would comment a lot more if it wasn't so anonymously mean spirited sometimes. I think when people know they aren't being kept track of they get up to the devil's work, making fun of their neighbors, accusing them of crimes and whatsuch.

Karen Ervin missing from city council meeting.

Anonymous said...

City Council didn't even mention if she was absent.

Anonymous said...

During roll, City Clerk O'Connell mentioned that Councilmember Ervin had an excused absence. No other reference past that point.

Anonymous said...

9:14

I didn't hear a word.

Anonymous said...

Big Announcement, Ervin had an excused absence due to illness.
In other breaking news, Taco Bell customer on Linda Mar Beach had to be calmed when a seagull stole his burrito.

Anonymous said...

As expected, not a single bit of "OMG BREAKING NEWS!!!" at last night's city council despite the breathless hype over at pacifica.bs and reposted at ripfart.

When are people going to realize that stegink's site is nothing more than the fevered imaginations of wannabe "players" in this town?

Shit, send him an email that a ufo crashed on Milagra Ridge and the dude will run with it.

Anonymous said...

Ervin's PLANNED absence was talked about several times at council meetings in March. It was noted waaaaay in advance and shouldn't have been news to anyone except for those who've never moved on from "baby's first conspiracy" level stuff.

Anonymous said...

I don't know what to think. If that was true Sue Vaterhaus wouldn't have gotten fired as a planning commissioner last night.

Had Karen Ervin made that meeting we would've retained a very important progress voice, now we have a nimby, no growth planning commission again.

Anonymous said...

Kathy, is Stegninkompoop really running for city council or is that just a rumor too?

Anonymous said...

Sue Vaterlaus got fired? For what?

Anonymous said...

Vaterlaus was not fired, her term expired and she chose not to run again, which could be a sign she's running for city council.

Stegnink talks at every meeting in town and advocates cutting employees and city spending across the board. If that isn't a city council campaign platform, I don't know what is. Why would you bother if you weren't running?

Anonymous said...

No, Sue Vaterlaus was not fired. Unfortunately Karen Ervin had an excused absence which created a 2 to 2 vote on Commissioner selection. The two puppets (Digre and Keener) of the faux-enviro, poverty loving thugs in town were able to once again stack the deck on the Planning Commission with their anti-development robots. Since Sue Vauterlaus is considered progressive and friendlier towards building in Pacifica she was quickly sacrificed.
Thanks again enviro-hypocrits for sealing Pacifica's fate as a dying town.

Anonymous said...

Say goodbye to affordable quarry housing forever with Sue Vaterlaus off the planning committee. These nimby hypcrites think they can protect every person over the age of sixty five from getting evicted but pretend our highways cant handle the load.

Id vote for Sue Vaterlaus for Mayor any day of the week.

Anonymous said...

Sue Vaterlaus's four year term expired and she did not apply for another term.

Nothing to do with Karen or Mary Ann, Sue had just had enough and done a great job I will add.

Anonymous said...

Sue Vaterlaus did apply for the Planning Commission but she wasnt given a second chance.

Instead newby nimby Keener and Digre replaced her with Tom Clifford.

Anonymous said...

I am over sixty five too I'll be damned if I use the word senior to describe myself. It would be nice to get to know some people here by there real names not just their insults. Sue did a damn good job and I think she was a good mayor, who cared about her people and veterans.

Anonymous said...

I thought Sue had applied for another term but was not selected for reappointment.

Anonymous said...

Sue Vaterlaus applied to be reappointed to PC. See packet, item 7, page 310. Everyone has an opinion, not everyone knows what they talking about...

Tom Clifford said...

I was appointed to the remainder of Commissioner Browns term Sue's seat went to a new applicant. I wish Sue the best & want to thank her for her service.

Kathy Meeh said...

First vote was a tie, all 5 candidates received 3 votes.
Second vote, 3 candidates were selected: 1) Rich Campbell, 2) Tom Clifford, 3) Jack Baringer.
Third vote. determination of who would fill the 2 year vacancy. That vote went to Tom Clifford. Rich Campbell and Jack Baringer will serve 4 years.

Congratulations to all appointed Committee members, and to the Planning Commissioners!
Appreciation to those who serve to benefit this City, and to those who volunteer to serve in such accountable capacity!

Anonymous said...

Jack Baringer the white haired guy with the tan and beard?
Now he would make a great mayor. Or city councilmen.
He is like the worlds most interesting man television advertisements. He would be very handsome at the podium talking about our city.

Anonymous said...

Tom Clifford=Pro growth, General Contractor know the building trades and construction. Plus he has an exceptional Western/Cowboy hat collection.

Rich Campbell=EPA Attorney and member of the Vallemar Chapter of the Gang Of No

Jack Baringer=Never heard of him

Anonymous said...

That's so Survivor Kathy. Trust me I have never missed an episode and now I have all the time in the world on my hand so I watch the old ones on the vhs.

That means either Mike O'Neill or Mary Ann didn't use all four of their votes. One of them cast only three votes, dooming Sue Vaterlaus to get kicked off the planning commission.

Mike and Mary Ann are on the same team, right?

Anonymous said...

I pressed the publish button today but I guess nothing happened.
I am 73 years young and I enjoy your articles but I would like to get to know people here better too.
I think the real names would make more of a community than a few hit and runs from strangers.
Thank you Kathy for your writing and Steve too been here almost six years.

Anonymous said...

529 only way that's possible is if either Mike or Mary Ann didn't vote for Sue Vaterlaus in first round and both of them didn't vote for Sue in the second round.

Sue has been a solid development voter, sad to see those she worked so hard and loyally for throw her under the bus.

Anonymous said...

No Kathy & 529, the first vote showed all five with two votes, not three.
Both Mike and Mary Anne voted for Sue on the first vote but not the second vote where they voted only for Jack Baringer, leaving Sue out in the cold.

Campbell and Baringer tied, Clifford was next, then Vaterlaus.
Clifford beat Vaterlaus by one vote.

Kathy Meeh said...

606, okay, so now I have posted your 341 comment.
If you are talking about Sue Vaterlaus, she was never Mayor; and, Sue Digre is our current Mayor.
(However over many years on City Council, Sue Digre has been Mayor several times (3x I think)-- maybe that's what you were referring to.
You want people to post with their names, but your own name is the same as all those names you complain about: Anonymous!
And why is your age significant when it is not linked to a related community issue?

Posting comments, especially under the Anonymous non-identity, poses the question whether the individual is in effect a blog troll (usually a NIMBY) distorting the conversation and playing the rest of us.
Without intent to be unkind, when I see such comments (or a pattern of such comments) which seem to deviate from the core conversation as well as blog comment policy, I tend to spam them.
Steve (Blogmaster) tends to be more tolerant, and sometimes restores comments that I spam. So for those of you players (who don't go away), take your chances.
(Or better, offer productive, reasonable comments.)

Anonymous said...

Kathy try it this way 7 candidates. 4 Council members =12 votes. 5 ties = 10 vote for 5 candidates + 2,(1 for each of the of the other candidates.) Second round 3 votes Campbell,3 votes Baringer both are seated. five vote left, two for Sue two for Tom one for candidate X Final round three for Tom two for Sue one for X

Anonymous said...

Kathy

I always thought you and Steve would run side by side as our 2 New pro economy candidates. You both know the issues, know who the players in town are, and would be a breath of fresh air on city council.

Anonymous said...

There were 5 candidates but only 4 council members voting, each voted for their top 3. 4 council members x 3 votes each = 12 votes. A tie among 5 candidates can only happen if each candidate got 2 votes. If they all got 3 votes, that would be 15 votes total, which could only happen if 3 council members voted 4 times and one voted 3 times.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if it was Mike O'Neill or Mary Ann Nihart that stuck Sue Vaterlaus in the back. She didn't deserve that for sure.

Kathy Meeh said...

847, 900, thanks, got it! And you're right about the city councilmembers present, and the numbers-- I have withdrawn my follow-up 758 comment to the contrary.

First vote, tie among the "top 3". (Not each candidate received 3 votes.)
Second vote, a change was made (as expected), and the result is history.
Duh for me. Long day, now may I go eat my dinner?

Anonymous said...

Looks like either O'Neil or Nihart didn't vote for Vaterlaus in the last vote.

Well, Clifford is a good choice too. I don't expect Sue Vaterlaus to wither up and blow away, I expect her to blast back on the scene like a cannonball, taking no prisoners and sailing her way on to city council.

Put me down as liking the larger lettering too. I can't read all this tiny words some times. Getting old sucks.

And in other council news, Pacifica.city has an expose on Bernie Sifry's dog biting Pete Dejarnatt leading to a six figure lawsuit. This town's crazy!

Steve Sinai said...

Bernie's dog is my hero. That's like Toto biting Almira Gulch.

Kathy Meeh said...

I'm waiting for the next pacifica.stegink "Big Foot came from outer space to settle in Pacifica Quarry, an endangered story".

In the spirit of sensational speculation (trash), reported from NIMBY conduit pacifica.stegink, the story headline includes dog bite was a "six figure lawsuit". Really?
The Court case was filed 5/8/14, over, done, and settled 6/19/14, dismissed 7/8/14. That was a two (2) months duration, with "each side to bear their own costs and fees" (page 25).
And if the extent of Pete DeJarnatt's injuries are true, Bernard Sifry and does 1-25 defendant/Farmers Insurance (page 21) probably paid some form of policy liability compensation with conditions in the settlement (details which may not be disclosed).
But, if these conditions and liability are being disclosed on pacifica.stegink, let us know the exact six figures-- something other than $000,000.

I met Bernie's dog Sheba many times during Bernie's Term Limits campaign. Sheba was a very nice, friendly dog-- but then, that wasn't on a GGNRA trail, and I wasn't Pete DeJarnatt.

Anonymous said...

Of course the carpet bagger attorney left out that Pete made a stupid comment and when Bernie' s dog felt his owner was threatened he bit Pete. Plus Pete is scared of dogs and the dogs Alfa male kicked in. Most dogs will protect their owners and family to their own death.

Pete also tried to kick and swat his hand at the dog. Pete is was and will always be a useless piece of shit. John Curtis personal pupett on city council. Pete used to brag he talked to the hamburgler Curtis 3 times a we e k.

Curtis, is the engineer of the decay of Pacifica over the past 35 years. Good to know the taxpayers are paying for him to rot out his final days in taxpayer subsidies housing by Good Shepherd.

Kathy, I never thought you even liked dogs. We all should have all started a free Sheba campaign and flooded the court room. Justice for Sheba.

Anonymous said...

You know why the nimbys never want to build anything in the Pacifica quarry. The want to bury John Curtis in the quarry and build a tribute pyramid. Bury him like Egyptian royalty, with lots of money, McDonald's, and a Free place to rest for eternity.

The big announcement at Monday's city council meeting was rumored to be Karen Ervin quilting city council. Nunbereous people reached out and ask Karen if she was leaving and did not receive a response. Again word on the street is she is tired of being held under Mary Ann's thumb, and being forced to play second fiddle.

Mary Ann is controlling and will stab a
Everyone and anyone in the back Tokyo get ahead. Mary Ann has no chance to move up and over the hill. Pacifica is a political death sentence and gets you laughed at over the Hemphill.

The lawsuit mentions "prior documented attacks" by Sheba. Somebody could just ask Bernie how much he paid Pete, I for one am curious.

Steve Sinai - if you were the victim of an unprovoked dog attack, you wouldn't think it was so funny.

Anonymous said...

Another piece of typical bullcrap from pacifcifa.bs

A two year old lawsuit that was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum all of a sudden becomes today's news and a "settlement filed for $100,000." Yeah, that's not how it works or what happened, buddy.

Stegstink needs to start getting his facts straight and start reading up on the liability he's exposing himself and his assets to (assuming his website isn't an LLC) by putting this stuff out there like it's truth. All it takes is one person to demonstrate that they were damaged by his reckless reporting and it's lawsuit time. This dude's on track to being sued into oblivion. Keep it up!

Anonymous said...

I feel so bad for Bernie. Being the staunch parasite that deJarnutt is, I'm sure he will go for everything he thinks he can get away with. It would be so in keeping with the NIMBY mantra. Wreck everyone else, take care of yourself.

Where's the liability in printing a public lawsuit?

Anonymous said...

736, Stegnick doesn't seem too scared of the lawyers.

The liability is not in printing facts (a public lawsuit). The liability is in printing assumptions as if they were facts. Stegink does this all the time and he's going to get his ass in a jamb over it.

In this case he goes beyond the facts and states that a $100,000 settlement was filed and that a quick settlement indicates that it "settled for policy limits." This flat out didn't happen, is totally incorrect, and it's not supported by any evidence or documents in this case. No one except for the parties involved have any idea what the settlement was. Claiming otherwise is pure conjecture, also known colloquially as "making shit up."

Notice, too, that he doesn't allow comments or any way to point out the incorrect assumptions and "facts" he routinely posts on his website. That speaks volumes.

"The big announcement at Monday's city council meeting was rumored to be Karen Ervin quilting city council.

Uh-huh.

Care to explain how Karen was going to make a "big announcement" at a meeting she wasn't going to be at? She announced to the public two weeks earlier that she wasn't attending the meeting.

Keep on posting any rumors you dream up, man. This ranks up there with the classic "Mazetti's is closing" stupidity.

So word from the Ervin, camp as follows:

Karen Ervin, feels overwhelmed with pressure from her work, family, home and city council. Plus, she is really tired of being under Mary Ann's thumb. Mary Ann, has a strong personality and likes to keep people at her side. If someone does anything else but what Mary Ann, wants, there is hell to pay.

Personally, I don't know why Karen Ervin, even bothered to run for city council except Mary Ann wanted a lackey next to her, a right hand Man(woman) and someone to be her second vote on everything.

Mary Ann, has warped into a real monster at city hall and at city council.

More later...

Kathy Meeh said...

605, Councilmembers Nihart, Ervin and O'Neill (and recently sometimes Digre) tend to vote together (for progress in this City)-- that's the reality. Lackey away!
Any thoughtful person serving in an accountable civic capacity, especially City Council, and at the same time working a day job must feel pressured.

More now... how about "scooping" a little hole for your anonymous conjecture, and burying it in the speculation dirt where it belongs. The intent of your comment is unknown, and these City Council jobs that move the direction of this City (through a majority of 3 out of 5 votes) are important.
