Len Stone, Pacifica's newest councilman, was interviewed on
Wavelength, PCTs award winning local TV show. Len discussed his "no"
vote on the sales tax, what to do about Jim Vreeland's Council seat, and
how he was inspired to run for office while skateboarding Pacifica's
pothole filled streets.

Love your interviews, Ian. And, the close-up conversation with Councilmember Len Stone is appreciated. I hope our city can have some "win, win" trends in our future.
What a pleasant surprise Len Stone has turned out to be. Pragmatic, rational, and not anybody's poster-boy. Maybe it is generational but he's moved beyond the tired old Pacifica battles and makes the die-hards from both sides sound tired, old, and senile. His idea about developing within our municipal footprint is realistic and achieveable. So c'mon Council let's get things moving! We need an interim appointee til November (a definitely-retired former council person or someone from FCSTF)and then we elect 2 new councilpersons.
Understanding the past is important but Pacifica needs more leaders who aren't mired in it.
I hope we elect three new councilmembers.

Sure, why not? Talks a good game, gets emotional so I guess she cares, but not much in the way of results. Oh, I know it's not her fault. What a minute, don't they all say that? Next.
What has Len done in terms of results?
He's still newish and the jury is out for now, but it has to start being about results in Pacifica. If we don't hold people accountable
we can expect this mess we're in to get far worse. Term limits solve part of the problem but why wait that long if someone can't deliver?
Anybody who wants to be elected to the Pacifica City Council now should have their head examined.
Why? Clearly it's never been a requirement before.

I don't know Anon 407, unfortunately people in office tend to get re-elected. In retrospect, maybe these councilmembers have been our eco-mascots. Too late, but fortunately Vreeland is gone, DeJarnatt is going. Digre has yet to figure-out her anti-development actions and votes have been an obstacle to improving our economy. She needs to term herself out-of-office.
All about POV, isn't it? Your silly eco-mascots are eco-heroes to a lot of other people. Listening to you, I guess we can say they've delivered even though we may not like what they have delivered. Maybe that success has everything to do with their baffling ability to get re-elected. And they probably have more supporters than we dare admit.
But it's easier to dismiss them as mascots. I bet they don't mind.

You think we're talking about a "nice in office, popularity contest", Anon735? No, its about trustees of a city that have failed to deliver a balanced city economy. These decade in office city councilmembers have been eco-mascots, going through ceremonial motions while the city has been rotting.
There's also a negative side.
Anon843 I'm merely saying that the fact that they have held on to these seats for a decade or more indicates many voters feel they have delivered and we should not trivialize that. Time and the November election will tell whether that has changed substantially. I'm not willing to call Stone's election a sign that the pendulum has swung. Could be youth and energy rather than any specific idealogy.
Interesting to get rid of Mariann. She took on a council that was entrenched and started to change it, even when she was alone. She voted against them and moved an agenda. Improving relationships with the school board and business alike. She has worked harder than any council member, even Len. She has made a big difference, brought us together, and moved us forward. Deserves our support, she does. I think she is glad to have Len on Council, at least it looks like it, but she needs another thinking person since it takes three votes. I sure hope she runs again. We need her plus one more.
The 5 ring circus is now 4 rings.
That's the only change and public pressure brought that about. Stone is pretty independent. Smart move.
