Eco-Halloween tips

What are you doing for Halloween?

Mercury news/Rebecca Jepsen, 10/28/11.  "Go green for Halloween! Skip the plastic and create a custom, one-of-a-kind costume out of materials and items you probably already have at home. Ban classic candles and opt for soy ones instead. Look for fair-trade chocolate or sweets made from fruit juice and natural colors. Or avoid the candy altogether and hand out small toys, pencils or soy crayons. Go to Treehugger.com for more Halloween tips."

Can't the enviro-nutjobs ever give it a rest? Ever? Just once? Halloween, perhaps? Is that asking too much? Promise we won't tell your friends or the Sierra Club. But if you insist, how about this nifty idea for a costume for your politically correct, eco-nazi indoctrinated ute? Take your Recoloy compost container. Turn it upside down. Cut holes for arms, legs and head. Now stuff your little tot in there and you've got the green version of Mr. Roboto. Or, accessorize with a briefcase and you've got an obsessive-compulsive attorney for the Center for Biological Diversity. Either way - so much green fun!

Can't you enviro-hating jerkbrains give it a rest and let the treehuggers have Halloween the way they want to? What does it matter to you haters if someone wants to use soy candles or make a costume from items at home or give out toys instead of candy? Why do you have to attack other people's ideas for a green Halloween? Who put you in charge of how other people choose to live their lives? Republicans?

"Now stuff your little tot in there"? Please lay off the sugar. Better yet, leave the container upright in front of your house, you hop in and hand out treats.

chant to trick or treaters. Read them the collected works and wisdom of Sue Digre. Give them gifts from indigenous peoples of SF.
Bore them to tears?
Set your PC aside for a night and give the kids a good time and some chocolate.

I'll be handing-out sugared sodas (85%), health drinks (5%), and bottled water (10%). The percentage is usually the way it goes, the cans and bottles may be recycled by the kids or their parents.

Come to my house for magic brownies.

Think most of the kids went to Tom's house for "sugar and chocolate" (his comment 10/30, 12:52pm). This year, only 9 came to my house (sometimes as many as 40): 3 younger, 6 older, 100% went for the sugar drinks.

The very mention of health drinks or water blew right over their heads. I always add these non-sugar alternatives to the choices, mostly for my amusement "treat".

Kathy, Nope we had about a dozen at my house. The hill I live on makes it to much work for today's kids.
