As the owner of a small home remodeling business a 9% Federal Sales tax scares the shit out of me.
How much will the cost of the materials that go into a remodeling job go up as it move through the supply chain from manufacture, to wholesaler, to the retailers, to me and on to my customer.
The California Federation of Teachers is backing a millionaire's tax in the state that would drive the state income tax as high as 13 percent on those earning more than $1,000,000 a year. Considering the flight of jobs (and money) from California in recent years, is this a wise move? Or just a cash grab by greedy union bosses? http://bit.ly/o3vaVH
So the feds take 35% and the state takes another 13%. I ask you this: do you go to work everyday to bring home 50% of your hard earned paycheck? This is absurd. Soon the people taking the risks and creating the jobs will just take their ball and go home. Taking home 50 cents on the dollar is just not worth it. These people take all the risk. They do all the heavy lifting for the rest of us. Soon the govt is going to run out of millionaires to feed the machine and they'll be coming for the rest of us. When will it end? In 2 years will they decide $200,000 is the cut off? $50,000? When will it end?
Anon@740, don't know just when it will end but it will end in blood. The line separating the haves and the have-nots will be awash in it. Greed, rage and fear are destroying this country from within. We worry about making the rich richer while the middle class disappears and the poor are reviled. Meanwhile, if your business or job is just not worth it anymore, stay home. Plenty of people ready to take your place and grateful for the chance. Waiting for it.
Steve Jobs could of never made it under today's environment. He never took a penny of government money. Was abortion even legal when he was born? His bio mom was pro-life. Are you ready to take Steve Jobs place Mr or Ms Anon 12:44PM? I think not, you don't have the brains or the how to. Don't wait too long for me to leave.
Anon542 Are you ready to take Steve Jobs place? Prize winner for assinine questions. Guys like Jobs come along now and then and permanently alter the landscape for the rest of us. Those terrible burdens troubling you don't even register on their radar. Safe to say neither you nor I will be taking Mr. Jobs place and no shame in that. He was extraordinary.

Is this going to be a DIY redistribution of wealth or just a storm of wanton destruction?
