Highway 1 comments extended to October 22

Both Mark Stechbart and Barbara Arietta have sent notification that the Highway 1 commenting period will be extended to October 22.

Joe Hurley of the San Mateo County Transportation Authority says that only 70 comments have been received to date, and that most of them are useless, in that they are nothing more than "I like it" or "I don't like it."  They are looking for specific comments about what you want, and why.

Additional observations from Marky-Mark:

formal notice maybe tomorrow.

A mixed message as only pacifica can create.

Standard 45 days expanded to 60 but council wants more time while shutting down a planning commission gone rogue. Most folks lobbying for more time have already commented either in writing or at a forum.

But this gives the chamber more time to assemble additional biz comments into the record.

go figure....

You would think that more than 70 comments would have been received from a city that's supposedly outraged at the idea of widening the highway.

Maybe the citizens of Pacifica aren't as outraged as the NIMBYs claim.

More than likely 65 of those comments are from our well-organized band of NIMBYs, so what's truly pathetic is that none of the non-fringe citizenry have been moved to comment. My comment was of the apparently useless "I like it... The traffic sucks" variety. What exactly else do they want?

Maybe, all the NIMBYS were at the 9/22 highway 1 widening meeting. Anyhow, when there's a significant improvement proposed, NIMBYS are usually outraged.

Do Not Widen the HWY 1. Fix It. Fix Highway One with a Wide Emergency Shoulder.

10.5 million to build 1 mile in Orlando Florida, 150 jobs were created.

sounds too good to be true which has always been the case with Florida

"10.5 million to build 1 mile in Orlando Florida"

Sounds like a good deal. Caltans is adding two lanes just over a mile long for $52 million.

That's $52 million before the delays and juicy change orders run it up 30-40%. If Florida can really get it done for just $10.5 million it may explain why CA is broke.
