SF Examiner: Commissioners could approve Sharp Park plan

Recreation and Park Commissioners will take another stab Thursday at approving a proposed plan to keep Sharp Park a golf course and preserve the habitat for the endangered red-legged frogs and garter snakes. 

The item was on the agenda about a month ago, but commissioners decided to put off a vote.

However, they still listened to a few hours of public comment because so many people showed up, such as state and federal preservation officials who helped with the plan. The mayor of Pacifica also attended; the golf course is located in Pacifica although The City runs it.

Commissioners will also hear from a consulting firm about how a sea wall that protects the golf course and wetlands from flooding associated with sea tidal action, salt water intrusion and storm surges could use millions of dollars' worth of repairs.

The items are on the commission’s regular agenda but this week's meeting will start at 2 p.m. Thursday in City Hall in room 416 instead of at 4 p.m.
