This time, I'll out run the rider, bye, bye..
"At the age of 4, Pacifica resident Emilie Montoya hopped on an Appaloosa gelding for the first time. Now, at the age of 22, she owns one.  She started competing in rodeos at the age of 13 and this past weekend at the Cow Palace in Daly City, Montoya was named 2016 Miss Grand National Rodeo, one of the most prestigious crowns in all of the sport.

It’s more than a title, however, as Montoya will be the Grand National Rodeo’s ambassador for the next year, promoting the Western lifestyle. To earn the crown, Montoya showed she has a broad knowledge of all things rodeo including livestock, agriculture and science. ....  For more than 70 years, the Grand National Livestock Exposition, Horse Show and Rodeo held at the Cow Palace has been the West’s most prestigious Western-lifestyle event.

She currently studies animal science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after attending College of San Mateo. Graduating next spring, Montoya plans to pursue a master’s degree in reproduction.  ....  Montoya hopes to one day raise her own cattle. She will spend the next year promoting the traditional roles of working cattle ranches."  Read more.

Many years ago, there used to be a fun rodeo in this City. I remember driving in from San Francisco to see it.

Yeehaw! Grew up on a cattle ranch. Round-ups, rodeos, barrel-racing. Great way to grow up.

There used to be a rodeo held in the quarry every year. It ended in the early 80's.

Before it was held in the quarry it was at Park Pacifica Stables.

The city did Frontier Days with a dance bbq and cattle went up Oddstad Blvd.

Back when thinking Men were on city council, instead of the bozo's we have now.
