VFW, American Legion, and PRC caring efforts at Thankgiving

VFW and American Legion
provides Thanksgiving dinner
for 200 and their families 
Pacifica Tribune/Jean Bartlett, Features correspondent, 11/18/15. "Local veterans believe giving is for life. American Legion, VFW members host Family Harvest Program to help feed hungry households."

....   "On Monday, November 23, three days before Thanksgiving, members of both the local VFW and American Legion will be at the Legion Hall, 555 Buel Avenue to host the PRC’s 'Family Harvest Program.' 'We host this program each month on the fourth Wednesday,' said Allan Hale, VFW Post 10245 Commander and Adjutant for American Legion Post 238. 'We are hosting it on Monday to be sure that all the Pacifica Resource Center clients have everything in time to enjoy their Thanksgiving.' 

PRC’s monthly Family Harvest Program, hosted by the American Legion, sends qualifying individuals and families home with 100 to 120 pounds of groceries. Family Harvest is provided by Second Harvest Food Bank. At Thanksgiving, $5 gift cards for turkeys from Safeway are additionally provided. PRC also provides gift cards to anyone who has signed up for their Thanksgiving program.'Our Thanksgiving distribution lasts two days,' Rees explained. 'This year we will serve 200 households.
