Sentiments from NIMBIES against housing and city solutions, Fassler Avenue

Pacifica Tribune, 11/4/15 print edition, John Maybury, "Wandering & Wondering" column: "Fubar on Fassler".

Overflowing with NIMBY wisdom
"More bad news for Pacifica open space and highway traffic: Another out-of-town builder plans to put 24 condos (formerly known as The Prospects) on the Fassler downslope to Highway 1. We can only hope that basic human fear will cancel out basic human greed, and put a stop to this latest insanity.  Please tell City Council and the Planning Commission that you want Pacifica to stop paving paradise."
----------

Counter opinion:  The above comment includes the usual mind-numbing themes circulated by "nothing for Pacifica" NIMBIES.  Yet, do these "don't fix it", fear of the "other", promoters of the open space religion address the need for housing, services and adequate paved roads in this City?  No.

The "out-of-town builder" theme repeats, as NIMBIES rally against a proposed 24 unit  housing development on Fassler Avenue. Yet, what "in town" builder has the capital and endurance to complete such a project?  Apparently none.

Think "solutions for this City".  And put negative NIMBY sentiment where it belongs.

Related article.  Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, 3/18/14, "Planning Commission studies proposed development on Fassler Avenue." "Planning Commission met Monday in a study session about building 24 condominium units on an 11-acre vacant lot at 801 Fassler Avenue northwest of the Sea Crest condos. .... This was the original location of a 2008 approved project that had been developed by builder Rick Lee and called "The Prospects." ....The new owner proposes a different shape and layout -- 24 townhomes with four units clustered in each of the six buildings."

I think this project should move on. We need housing , like this.

Oh boy. The NIMBY/NOBIES have a new project to destroy.

We don't need anymore housing on that hill until they can control the current sewage flooding in Linda Mar.

Pacifica has no duty to build new housing. We've been the same size for fifty years... why ruin this place just because there's a job bubble about to burst?

Seems like we don't have the schools or municipal services to handle all these new buildings.

Socialism is fine until you run out of other people's money.

Commence the tax increases!

But we do need a stop light at this proposals entrance.

Once every five years I agree with Todd Bray, but this does need a stoplight.

Since Maybury has wandered his mug right out of Pacifica and into the hearts and homes of our good neighbors at Moss Beach, that would make him one of them undesirable "outsiders", wouldn't it? Can't trust them outsiders. No way. Outsiders love traffic. Outsiders hate the environment. Outsiders make the sea level rise and IQs fall. Outsiders want to turn Pacifica into another Daly City. Outsiders are greedy. Outsiders love money, wide roads, themselves, their big ass polluting cars, money losing racist games like golf, Fox News and dirty underwear. Hate dem outsiders!

Anyone else notice the "Wandering and Wondering" author, who no longer lives in Pacifica, criticized the "out-of-town" builder?

Maybury's heart will always be in Pacifica so I'd expect no less of him.

@6:05 - then why did he leave? Why do hippies defend John for leaving, but when Courtney Conlon leaves, hippies portray it as if she never cared for, or about, Pacifica.

Sinai, I think his neighborhood went to the dogs. Why do hippies defend Maybury? You're kidding, right? Hippies bashed Courtney? Sock puppets on here conversating with themselves or live people? Define a Pacifica hippie. Using the highway as the yardstick? Courtney took a position on it and she drew fire for it from the opposition and they used a scatter-gun. I doubt it took her by surprise. Maybe some didn't like her, but some did. And some of her harshest critics were within the business community. Go figure. And, now she lives in beautiful Sonoma. Don't cry for me Pacifica...

^^^ Are you drunk?

Courtney wasn't universally beloved in the Chamber.
Her incessant name dropping and refusal to accept board input ruffled some feathers.
Everyone agreed it was time for a change in May.

such petty bullshit

Hey Steve Sinai, you readily print "outsider" Gil Anda's view points, so why the hypocritical bullshit?

Let's see, we waste hours and hours at council discussing rent control and yet when a partial solution comes by in the way of 24 more housing units, those same No Growthers go bonkers. Rent control never put anyone in a housing unit, never. The issue is housing, affordable housing and market based housing. We have enough infill in this town to put up hundreds of new units and not be invasive. Those that scream against any building in this town are worst than your evil "out of town" builders. They are the biggest impediment to smart housing.
Maybe Maybury can rent a room out in his home. Yea, right! What a tool.

913 People in those jobs can't help but annoy someone. It's the nature of the job. If you don't know that going in, you'll know it going out. Personally, I value Conlon's many years of work with Relay for Life much more than anything she did with the Chamber. She invested many years of work and leadership on a non-political issue that effects the entire community.

The NOBIE spokes-mouth has made it abundantly clear that this gang of "I Got Mine's" are the very face of extreme hypocrisy.
They villanize all developers, even those who try to build housing, and then they blame the evil developers for not supporting rent control.
Who are the evil ones, really?

6:27, My comment wasn't a complaint about people from out of town commenting on city affairs. It was about the hypocrisy of someone who's an out-of-towner complaining about someone else because they're an out-of-towner.

John quietly moved out of Pacifica and rarely brings up the fact that he no longer lives here. Gil is very transparent about where he lives, and often mentions that while he doesn't live here, he still owns land here.
