How do you read the results, Mark and others? And what were the consideration variables (other than honoring the good police force we seem to have of course)?
Fiscal year bottom line cost without the detail (and subject what may have been missed in quickly viewing):
1. San Mateo County Sheriff, $7,441,280 2. City of South San Francisco Police, $9,289,087 3. City of Pacifica Police, $8,661.403, but the actual 2010-11 cost was $9,781,440.
The consultant's report is still missing but given these compelling numbers how could it be anything but positive about outsourcing? Why are we not pursuing a multi-year contract with the county right now? I think Millbrae signed for 5 years. We could rebuild our reserve in 5 years with these savings. Council has managed to do absolutely nothing for us. No tax measure on the June or November ballot- where it could have quickly been defeated -and now, no progress on outsourcing. We have been in crisis mode for years and they have produced no solutions, no alternatives, nada. And, we pay them to do this.
Gee, if they'd acted quickly on the sheriff's proposal they could have guaranteed jobs for all current pacifica staff. The proposal was dated April 16 and a response within a month would have held the jobs. They could have probably talked about some extra time but they did nothing. Regular officers lost a great opportunity for better pay, better opportunity, better training, etc. Residents may lose a lot more.
I'm with Hutch, where's the damned report, paid for with taxpayer dollars, and that should have been available immediately after the July 11 illegal closed session???
Larry, how about you and Moe and Curly run as write-ins? You got my vote. I'm done. I want the real stooges in city hall. Get me a yard sign would ya'? Give me 50 of them. Lots of disgusted voters in my mad-as-hell neighborhood. We'd pay to hear you give that stooges ackackack salute to speakers. Oh yes!
Coouncil meeting Monday nite. Why don't all of you that have such tight relationships with different council members call them and ask them to put a discussion of the consultants report on the agenda. Let the public weigh in on it. Then council can tell Rhodes to release the report and all the notes connected with it. Heaven help us, transparancy!
Read the report below about Police Unions targeting Council Members for representing the people who want reform.
Although, I, personally, support the Police and feel that since their job is so dangerous I give them a pass. Yes, I do, when it comes to pension reform. I want other Government Agnecy's abolished. Like the Ca. Blueberry Commission , is a good example of waste. What I will not stand for is Unions Targeting Citizens who don't agree with me and others. This is going on across California. Take note.
Sounds like he was trying to correct something he felt was inaccurate. A veiled threat? Hmmmm.....try posting the whole quote next time. I agree with some of what you say Hutch, but I am disappointed with you on this one. You obviosuly are targeting this cop without reason. There is no threat here....he even offers to meet with you to offer his side of what he believes is correct info...Shame on you....

Hutch, You have made some very inaccurate statements and many in the community think you are correct. I would be more than happy to sit down with you and better educate you on the state of affairs regarding our salaries and benefits. The men and women who protect YOUR neighborhood are tired of hearing you throwing WRONG information out there. Please consider my invitation.
Monday's council agenda will be posted soon on city website. Be prepared to attend and ask that the consultant's report be released to the public. The lack of open government on this issue is really disturbing. The two outsource bids are still not on the city website.
No hope for easy full disclosure. City council agenda up on city website and neither nihart nor stone got agenda item to release outsource consultant report. So they miss-fired. Anyone who wants consultant report, and all the details on cost savings , has to appear under public comment to demand release of the report the taxpayers paid for and council now hides behind the city attorney, whom we pay for as well.

City of Pacifica General Fund budget 2012-13 summary, see page 2.

So what happens to the Pacifica dispatch, if and when South San Francisco goes county sheriff?
I love it how Markie Mark, sends this in.
All of you other windbags are worthless!
And since there is no windbagging, what do you know now that you didn't know prior?
still no consultants report is there?

Residents may lose a lot more.
Now we may have to lay off even more officers.
It looks like outsourcing to the Sheriff would not only save us millions but it would have protected jobs and service levels.
How about the consultants report!
We can all do the math but what about the details we don't have? What is behind the curtin, Oz?
"still no consultants report is there?"

Waldo, I mean Sneaky Pete, should have run again. That way we would miraculously have a $7,000,000 surplus again!

Anon 932, thanks for that. I'm sure the Police uninions here would never do anything like that.
Here's what POA President Bill Glasgo said to me on the Patch. Kind of a veiled threat:
"The men and women who protect YOUR neighborhood are tired of hearing you throwing WRONG information out there.
It's at the 8:27 mark http://pacifica.patch.com/articles/task-force-oks-sales-tax-increase-after-surveys-counted

Re anon242 isn't he just saying, in a grammatically incorrect way, Your Wrong? That's what I see there, not some threat.
