The Daily Journal (San Mateo), Staff, 9/4/12. "Economic development strategy in the works"
San Mateo downtown |
With RDA gone, the city has significantly diminished funding for economic development activities, but city officials want to come up with a strategy that links the city with the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown San Mateo Association to find ways to attract new businesses to the city and keep the ones that already operate here from leaving.
.... The plan calls for developing marketing strategies and identifying where
vacant retail and office uses are as well as figuring out which
companies that operate in the city are ready for expansion." Read article.

Every other city can, but Pacifica.
Cause Pacifica, does not want too!!!!
Council claims we can't afford to hire someone. Pathetic. We can't afford another year without someone with economic development experience on staff. Enough already with the goofy amateurs and their lame plans. They found hundreds of thousands of dollars to do another set of OWWTP plans. Wasn't that money from the refi of the police station? I think so and there should be some left. Just find a way! Hey, have that city attorney advise you on how to
get around the obstacles.
Council can not afford to spend money to make money, but they can throw away countless millions catering to John Curtis, Building trails that bring in zero revenue, blow millions on the linda mar beach project again no revenue stream.
Oh wait, tax the pot store, oh wait was that a flower shop?
No wonder why the dopers around town wanted the pot store.
Hell, while we are at it we can also tax the meth labs.
Hey, why not legalize prostution and gambling. Hell, Nevada made a mint off it.
