Looking forward to Devil's Slide tunnel

Another collision on Devil's Slide highway 1
Another crash on the dangerous highway 1 Devil's Slide road.  When completed, the new tunnel construction should prevent some of these collisions.

Half Moon Bay Review, Staff, 10/15/12. "Two injured in Devil's Slide crash."
"Two drivers were taken to the hospital on Monday morning following a head-on crash that completely shut down rush-hour traffic on Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide.

The crash occurred around 7:10 a.m. when a southbound vehicle crossed the yellow divider line into oncoming traffic, according to California Highway Patrol officials. The driver collided into a northbound car, and the wreckage impeded most of the two-lane highway.

This highway scares me too!
Traffic was completely halted on the highway for nearly an hour. CHP troopers began rerouting cars and directing one-way traffic around 8 a.m. Devil’s Slide was completely reopened at 8:30 a.m.
The northbound driver reportedly suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Stanford Medical Center. The southbound driver complained about aches and pains and was taken to Mills-Peninsula Hospital."

oh I can't wait fot the tunnel. It is going to be awesome. ANd then when they expand the hwy to 6 lanes and drop it to two. Going to be awesome to knwo there will still be a huge back up getting to Moss Beach/Half Moon Bay.

No bottleneck once Caltrans widens the next stretch.

And just when is the latest targeted "opening day" scheduled?

Highway one bridge over Pedro Creek. Highway 1 widening and manor overpass all rebuilt before the tunnel was open.

Epic failure!
