Mercury News/Jane Northrop/Special to the Pacifica Tribune 6/4/13, updated 8/12/16, "Utility undergrounding begins on Palmetto Avenue." The undergrounding of the utilities officially began with the unveiling of a sign at Brighton Park that announced work will commence on this first portion of the new streetscape along Palmetto Avenue.  At the ceremony that kicked off the work, city personnel, City Council, and city business leaders joined representatives from PG&E to commemorate this milestone in what will eventually be a whole new look for Palmetto Avenue. The area will be tied together with attractive landscaping, including planters and street trees, light poles, pedestrian friendly benches, parking enclosures and other details that will identify Palmetto as an historic area and an inviting “Main Street” shopping district. 'We have been working on this since the 1990s,' said Pacifica Mayor Len Stone. 'And now, in a couple years, we are going to have a whole new Palmetto.' ”  Note the photograph from the article was taken by Jane Northrop. "City Council members, left to right, Sue Digre, Mary Ann Nihart, Karen Ervin, Len Stone, Mike O’Neill and City Manager Steve Rhodes."

Congratulations to David Blackman and Mike O'Connell (developer/builders) upon approval of Item 3, their 4-unit, 3169 sq. ft. apartment building, located at 4009 Palmetto Avenue.
Thanks to the Planning Commission (and the Coastal Commission) for their reasoning in passing the project.

The infamous "gang of no" appealed this project.

Anonymous said...

3:46 Do you specifically know who filed this appeal?
This crap is getting so old. We need to take on this faux enviro gang and put them out of business (politically).
Don't be fooled, Dierdre Martin is their little puppet. They are doing everything they can to get her on council to take back the majority vote of "nothing for Pacifica".

Hal Bohner and Victor Carmichael filed the appeal.

Whoever appeals should be made to pay the costs of the person who's project they appealed. That would stop the idiotic punishment appeals these jerks do.

It is my understanding that Sue Digre, John Keener and of course the NOBY protege Deirdre Martin are also against this project.
An obvious trend and a vision of the future if the NOBY's win back the faux-enviro Council majority.

I hear Keener attends Anna Booth's meetings concerning her lawsuit against the city. Interesting, Keener the Weiner attends a meeting to no doubt give advice to Booth on how to sue the city, WHILE HE'S A SITTING COUNCIL PERSON OF THE CITY!
What an asshole.
So remember that a vote for Deirdre is a vote for the same destructive type of shit Keener pulls.

Could someone please elaborate on what exactly the Anna Booth lawsuits are all about? BTW, if it were true that Keener is participating in those lawsuits, he could/should be recalled for violating his fiduciary responsibilities.

Pissed Pete: check your sources and verify the truthfulness of these apparent Keener shenanigans. If it's true he should be impeached and possibly charged with a crime while betraying the public trust.

They are appealing four, FOUR measly apartments which could provide some (not nearly enough) affordable rental units in town? If these people are against four apartments, they will never be in favor of any proper housing development in town, quarry or otherwise. But they have their homes right? You betcha!

First person report on Keener attendance. Keener is an evil person set on destroying this city and should be run out of town. I'm surprised Stegink isn't all over this breaking story. After all, he ought to try reporting something real for a change.

Keener is under mind control by Peter Loeb and Bohner. They own him and control his mind.

Our local Hannity's nose is so far up the NOBY butt that he would never betray the only people he thinks are his friends. The NOBY's are very adept at pulling the wool over people's eyes.

Jay Bird over on Riptide is Ian Butler.

I have two projects currently in Pacifica. A small motel and a small apt building. John Keener has been an outstanding Champion in helping Julie Lancel was the only one to come speak in favor. The system is still very very broken.

Something like Pacifica closes Sanchez library depriving residents of services is illegal violation citizen rights.

"Jay Bird over on Riptide is Ian Butler."

I would bet that it isn't. I forget her real name, but I always thought Jay Bird was a woman who lived in Sharp Park.

Who then is Linty Mar? I think Linty is the nastiest of all!

The day Ian stopped posting with his name Jay Bird popped up. Plus someone I know told me Ian told him it was him.

Another shameless shill of the "gang of no"

Steve is right. Jay Bird is a woman.

Ian Butler pretends that he is an objective reporter/interviewer just trying to keep Pacifica informed of local events.
What BULLSHIT!
He is firmly in the pockets of his NOBY puppet masters and uses his PCT show to spread their propaganda. PCT should at least publish a disclaimer at the beginning and end of each show to make this clear. His latest project to legitimize Deirdre Martin, Bob Batallio and John Keener is a highly improper use of public (taxpayer supported) airways.

jay bird is mary keitleman
linty mar is dinah verby

Right about Jay Bird.
Wrong about Linty Mar.

My latest episode of shameless propaganda is available for your viewing pleasure: https://vimeo.com/188092814

Enjoy!

@Ian: Just one question, have you ever interviewed someone on your show who disagreed with you on politics, environmental issues, or anything for that matter? Didn't think so...

ian butler said...

12:30 Sure! Off the top of my head there's Mike O'Neill, Len Stone (twice), and more recently John Zentner, the Quarry development proponent: https://vimeo.com/145811848

I'll assume you are the same anonymous person as above who wrote "Ian Butler pretends that he is an objective reporter/interviewer..."

This is a great opportunity to clarify that I'm in no way an "objective reporter", I'm a citizen who enjoys interviewing interesting locals in my spare time. Since I do it all for free I get to choose who I interview and when. As I often say, I'm "fair and unbalanced". This year I am actively campaigning for Deidre Martin, so I didn't interview any candidates, since that would have been unfair. (And BTW, yes we do have a disclaimer as you suggested.)

But hey, if you feel a point of view is underrepresented, PCT provides the training and resources for any of us to produce whatever content we like! As Scoop Nisker used to say, "If you don't like the news go out and make some of your own!"

ian butler said...

@12:30 Of course! For starters, my previous interview was with John Zentner, the quarry development proponent.

I assume you are the same person who said this above, "Ian Butler pretends that he is an objective reporter/interviewer..."

I make no pretext of being an "objective reporter/interviewer", rather just a guy who enjoys interviewing people that I find interesting. I always learn something, and hopefully the audience does too!

The Battalio interview was quite informative, I highly recommend it to anyone curious about what the experts actually have to say about coastal management: https://vimeo.com/188092814

Oh, and no I'm not Jay Bird. In fact I've never posted under any pseudonym on Riptide.
