Woohoo, go Vickie!

Beat those newbie nimby democrats back down where they belong!

Not so fast Buckarooo. She got hired with no City Chamber knowledge.

The last chamber maid worked the information booth at Seton Hospital.

You get what you pay for.

"A chamber of commerce (or board of trade) is a form of business network, for example, a local organization of businesses whose goal is to further the interests of businesses. Business owners in towns and cities form these local societies to advocate on behalf of the business community. Local businesses are members, and they elect a board of directors or executive council to set policy for the chamber. The board or council then hires a President, CEO or Executive Director, plus staffing appropriate to size, to run the organization." Definition from Wikipedia/Chamber of Commerce.

But 1020, you make a point about the far left Nimby cabal that has manipulated this City for decades.

Kathy, You picked the most left wing source to make that point.

Wiki not reliable or accurate.

Nothing says we can't support political candidates who are pro big business.

1220, the general "chamber of commerce" definition is correct, and Wikipedia works at being an accurate, reliable information source. If you have better information, and can prove your point, great, let us know. (Otherwise, such uninformed, low-knowledge, or irresponsible, and politicized grunting "opinions" amount to zilch.)

And, since you seem to be asking for another definition, here's one from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. "A chamber of commerce is an organization of businesses seeking to further their collective interests, while advancing their community, region, state or nation. Business owners in towns, cities and other territories voluntarily form these local societies/networks to advocate on behalf of the community at large, economic prosperity and business interests."

Even better, here's the more specific Pacifica Chamber of Commerce Center/about description. "The Pacifica Chamber of Commerce provides Pacifica’s business community with resources and support to create a healthy economy. Established in 1957, the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce is comprised of more than 400 business leaders who are passionate about improving the local business climate. The Chamber is an active partner in promoting the businesses we serve, by supporting and providing networking opportunities for businesses to connect with each other. Our programs and partnerships help members connect to the community. We are honored to serve as the voice of Pacifica businesses. The Pacifica Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to: 1) Strengthing the local economy; 2) Promoting business and community; 3) Building business relationships and providing networking opportunities; 4) Representing the interests of business with government."

It seems that the new City Economic Development Manager will work well with the Chamber of Commerce. Out of that relationship, hopefully we will see City business and economic improvement. Possibly we may agree on that, 1220.

Glad to see one person out there who is not too politically correct to do what's right for this country and city.

Go Vicky and go Trump.

When was the last time this chamber represented the interests of business with government!? Seems like it is nothing more that party central as illustrated by this posting. An In-n-Out party. That's a new one. Guess it makes up for cancelling the Oktoberfest that is touted in the latest chamber phone book.

Courtney didn't works the information booth at Seton hospital, she managed it. Big difference.

2:55........ be careful the caboose doesn't run over your ass.
How stupid can anyone be to think that our planet's climate isn't changing in a big bad way. These last few years have been the hottest in human recorded history. Mostly, if not entirely, due to our corrupt dependence on fossil fuels we are headed for some very dangerous times.
Oil had a huge role in our advancement into and through the industrial age but it's short lived benefit has long since outlived it's usefulness. Big Oil and it's bought politicians are preventing orderly and responsible movement towards renewable energy.

The sun is free, wind is free, tides are free, gravity is free, geothermal is free, magnetism is free and all are abundant beyond imagination.

All we have to do is efficiently tap into these relatively inexhaustible energy sources and we will be free from war, hunger, pollution and misery. The technology is there and we have the know how. Let's get going and stop being stupid and REALLY change how we live on this planet for GOOD.

Anyone and everyone who has any questions about the chamber of commerce, ceo flores or the goals of our party is invited to join us at this open bar event.

1158, 309, prior to Chamber of Commerce CEO, Courtney Conlon was the "marketing/communications/public relations manager for Seton Medical Center/Seton Coastside." That's a pretty impressive job. And she was at that time active in our Chamber of Commerce, Board Vice President.
As Chamber representative to the public, it seems that she did a good job.. (whereas your comments not so much).
Enjoy the Pacifica Tribune/Jean Bartlett, 5/20/10 article, "Introducing the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce new CEO, Courtney Conlon."

405, thanks for your intelligent "wake up" comment.

405 your hippie free love and energy speech is at odds with reality.

Who do you think is going to bring us these technologies?

Big business not the government.

WAKE UP PACIFICA said...

What does it matter where new technologies come from? Big business, government or a garage in Menlo Park doesn't matter one bit.
There are plenty of big businesses that aren't into fossil fuels.

@255 Obama was the worst thing that ever happened to this country.

Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money.

Steve Sinai said...

4:50, The government funds a huge amount of research into alternative energy technology that eventually makes it to consumers.

Anonymous said...

@450 it matters because they must be profitable to scale up.

There's a reason the Chevy Volt failed.

Anonymous said...

Tell us, 5:22, in what ways Obama has been the worst thing that ever happened to this country.

Anonymous said...

Not 522 but how about 10,000 new illegal aliens a month, global warming rules crippling development, handing Egypt, Iraq, Libya and Tunisia over to al Qaeda and doubling national debt.

Just for starters.

Sooner Trump comes the better for me.

Thank you 9:19. You have been trolled.

Boy we've got some really stupid people on this blog.
You know....the ones who listen to Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Levine, O'Reilly and think they are hearing truth. Don't you dim-wits realize that these people are seditionists (look it up) who are raking in hundreds of millions of dollars playing you people for fools. They stuff talking points down your throats, convince you to vote against your own best interests and laugh all the way to the bank in their Ferrari's.
If for some reason their fortunes changed tomorrow and they could make more money being on the left they would switch in a nano-second, making fools of the next gullible audience.

Nobody knows how to make money in real estate better than Trump.

I trust him to do what he says he will do.

The other clowns like Hillary can't even remember their stories.

A week ago things looked so grim nimbies were drafting Biden.
