"The project was approved in 2013 by the Planning Commission, and the permit for the demolition was issued on Oct 15.

The 35,000 square foot renovation will add 40 more guest rooms, an expanded lobby, a conference room and an exercise room. The finished roof will have solar panels. The finished building will have a cellular antenna and a 2,000 square foot retail space available for rent. No tenants have been lined up yet, Patel said.   '....In the end our hotel will double in size so we expect a 100 percent increase in revenue, which means an increase for the city’s temporary occupancy tax,' Radha Patel (the owner) said."  Read more.

Finally! Real revenue for Pacifica. Great improvement to the Rockaway Business District which is the only place visitors can spend real money in this town. We need more of this kind of development. Smart land use to produce revenue for this city. Thank you Radha Patel and Company for your investment in Pacifica and your determination to make it happen.

Nice location. Ugly looking hotel.

Seems like only yesterday that this was approved when I was on the PC. It must mean it's been a success if they want to expand.

Yes, yes 306. You were expecting maybe the Taj Mahal? Continued blessings to Radha Patel for this wonderful addition to our business community and Pacifica's bottom line.

Yeah, Bruce, it's another example of how time stands still in Pacifica.

Holiday Inn is akin to McDonalds. Given the location, we should at a minimum aim for In & Out or better. For some perspective have a look see at this gem from Puerto Rico:

Acacia Boutique Hotel, San Juan

You want to help create a kind of experience that allows the hotelier to charge more and the customer to not feel ripped off. And have a pleasant memory of Pacifica and its beach. And in the process help attract more people/business.

Comparing Puerto Rico and Pacifica....hmm both are broke!

Puerto Rico has much better looking women!

Bad comparison. Pacifica is a city Puerto Rico is Nation/State. If you must compare, try Pacifica vs San Juan or Ponce in Puerto Rico. Admittedly the water is much warmer there. But the bigger point is doing more with less.
Also have a look see at this gem from Bohemia Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
Look at the effort they make at presentation. Will Pacifica grow up or will it remain the sorry excuse of a town with boxy motels, dilapidated shacks falling off cliff sides, taco bell on the beach!!

It is not a bad looking building just painted the wrong color. I don't have any suggestions and yellow is probable the company color.

Pacifica lost its chance to be a picturesque seaside town years ago by giving the prime sea view locations to trailer parks, auto shops, and a recycling center, for God's sake! The planning commission never has had an imaginative ambition for Pacifica to be like Carmel. Rather, to be like Daly City - houses built on sandstone cliffs, strip malls, fast food places. Maybe after the Big Earthquake we can rebuild the city into something more beautiful. But sorry, it will never be like Bohemia.

Hola Esteban! A fine beverage that Bohemia. Drink more, see less.

Oh goodness now that I see this, I'm having flashbacks. I'd love to go back to 1985 for one week to see Rockaway Beach. The three bigger Hotels weren't built yet, the quaint cottages, Cloth Jungle, B&J Towing, Romanos, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Golden Lantern, Captain Charles,Union 76 station, Acapulco Cafe, Nicks, Moonraker, The quarry. sigh......memories.
