Trip Report: Pacifica!
TripAdvisor review from muchan 5 of Chicago:
Just wanted to give two thumbs up to Pacifica, which seems to get too many thumbs down for not being SF or Half Moon Bay. We stayed Sunday, July 3 at the HI Express, rather than grab an airport hotel before our flight out on the 4th. "Foggy" Pacifica was brilliantly sunny, the beach was just right for us and the food at the little Mexican joint one block off the sand really hit the spot (home made tamales and fish tacos- wish I had some now!). Our commute to the airport was a breeze- and we flew out of Oakland. OK, that was due to light holiday traffic, but still.... Pacifica worked for us.

Creative writing from the little Pacifica booster committee, or authentic?
Please click on the link and determine for yourself.
Sheesh Kathy, can't we say anything good about Pacifica?
Steve, I did click-through of course, currently on mobile network may have missed something, but Chicago, IL doesn't mean it wasn't written in Pacifica. A few weeks back there was the "booster club" pledge. Remember, is this it?
Sheesh Steve, good news for Pacifica (even 1 happy couple visiting) is always welcome when its REAL.
Come back Muchan 5 of Chicago, come back. I want to believe it's an authentic review because they stayed in the HIE, best run hotel in Pacifica, and dined at Playa de Acapulco which we always enjoy. Lucky visitors, lucky choices, lucky us!
Pacifica Booster Committee? Hard hit, underprotected Pacifica merchants just call them shoplifters-there's no committee to it. Oh ok we're talking about the rare tourist. I'm clear.
Not everything in Pacifica involves a conspiracy, Kathy.
"Not everything in Pacifica involves a conspiracy.."
Steve (1252), not a conspiracy from us for sure, we are the duped rather than the dupers. Based upon prior blog and other comments expressed, I'll stand by this "small conspiracy" assumption.
And, the fun follow-up anonymous comments are not mine.
I don't think Kathy, is paranoid! I just think she thinks everyone is out to get her!!
Ding dong paranoia (142), its not about me. And, there's a trail of conversation on this one. Beyond that well you know city history "our environment is our economy." It sure is, and how did that happen?
Kathy, just please let us help you
"...just please let us help you"
Dr phil vs. Dr. Phil, apparently you can't help yourself, so work on that first.
I wouldn't characterize what might or might not be a simple little PR effort as a conspiracy. There's nothing sinister to it. If it's a fake review then someone is probably just trying to lift the gloom. Lots of people believe attitude is everything, positive thinking and all that. We need people like that these days to distract us because the unrelenting financial catastrophe isn't going away anytime soon. Now there's a conspiracy...in Pacifica economically clueless conspirators turbocharged by the Great Recession. Kind Tripadvisor reviewers, please, knock yourselves out>
People should click on the link to the original TripAdvisor site, and then click on muchan5's name to see their previous TripAdvisor activity.
If you think the post was a ruse, then I guess you believe Obama was born in Kenya.
I believe.
Steve, okay I found muchan5 who sounds just like a PR booster I know in Pacifica.
Anon (245), I don't think "fake it until you make it" in lieu of solving the deep structural problems of this city is a plan. The "great recession" began here with the election of the 2002 city council. We got "happy talk", and a failed city.
Kathy, I am genuinely embarrassed by your recent posts and comments. I was trying to keep this blog from being dominated by wing-nuts and conspiracy theorists, but I give up.
I bet muchan5 ear's are burning. There is no credible muchan conspiracy. The TripAdvisor poster is aware of Pacifica's reputation as a non-destination but who cares? Former resident, relatives nearby, job travel? All those little muchans are welcome anytime, right? Am I right?
As muchan5 alluded, Pacifica has a reputation as a place not worth visiting. I thought his/her comment was interesting, so I posted it.
It was very irritating to see Kathy suggest there was some kind of conspiracy behind this.
Steve
Did you check up on Kathy, and make sure she was taking her meds?
Steve, you have the technical expertise to have checked muchan5 comments in advance, and after all this is a website you frequent. Additionally, there was an extended conversation prior (on the Pacifica Best article I think) encouraging some members of the community to post Pacifica travel boosting comments.
As for my comments, they stand. I'm not embarrassed for expressing any honest opinions. Further, people who don't question motives in this city should. And, the word "conspiracy" with regard to these travel commentary postings was initiated by you, not me.
Potshot Anon (500) butt out. The few meds I take are unrelated to your idiotic implication. And you, what meds do you take?
Steve, clarification, at 3:56pm I was trying to say, given your instructions, I did see the several muchan5 comments. Still the Pacifica comment sounds like someone I know. That is not to say two unrelated people cannot or do not express themselves in a similar manner.
Thinking about this, driving and on vacation or for business Pacifica might be an easy stop-over location, particularly at Rockaway because it is central to lodging and food, plus the beach. And, the location is not far from a shopping center if needed.
Take a compliment where you can.
The ugliest part of Pacifica is in these comments.
so the muchans aren't coming back?
