Related series history - Pacifica Tribune/Jean Bartlett, Arts Correspondent, 4/26/11. "Let the poetry begin Florey's Books hosts Saturday night series." To explain why she is "inaugurating" an every-last-Saturday-of-the-month poetry night at Florey's, Pacifican and poet Sherri Rose-Walker, quotes prolific poet, essayist and fiction writer Ursula K. Le Guin. "I want to see poetry, not as fancy pastry, but as bread; that is, a common language, not a rarified one." "That's what poetry readings are for," Rose-Walker said. "To be nourished with news from the heart from all the kinds of poets there are — and to be inspired, perhaps, to raise your own voice." Following the presentation of the featured poets, each evening in the poetry series will offer open mic opportunities for poets in the audience. .... Poets who wish to be featured in the future, should send a brief bio and sample poems to Sherri Rose-Walker at sherrirose-walker@hotmail.com. Read article.
