New at San Francisco Zoo this weekend

5 week old Sumatran tiger cub, 11 pounds
"San Francisco's new Sumatran tiger cub is ready for her debutante ball. Call it a kitty cotillion.

The 5-week-old cub, still dubbed just "The Cub" by her keepers at the San Francisco Zoo, will make her first public appearance for a few hours Saturday and Sunday.

....  If visitors arrive during one of the 20 hours the cub sleeps each day, they can see the pair snuggle on a live webcam that shows the scene inside the nesting box.
....  As tempting as it is, MacDonald said the keepers don't play with - or even pet - the cub. If she's given too much affection as a baby, she'll grow into a full-size Sumatran tiger with fangs, paws the size of plates and an unfortunate fondness for romping with her human handlers."     Read article.
