Don't forget about the Financing City Services "Open House" at the Community Center (Crespi Drive and Highway 1), Wednesday, January 11th from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. As you know a big parking is available there. This is not a meeting per say, but an "open house" walk-through, stop and talk, so your time to visit is flexible.

On the city's website, the Financing City Services Task Force invites residents to fill out a survey that would give input about ideas for reductions of services or ideas to generate revenue. Those ideas will help the task force create a five-year financial plan that will balance the budget over time. Surveys must be completed by Jan. 20. Some of the options being discussed by the task force include reducing library hours, reducing or eliminating senior services and contracting with the San Mateo County Sheriff for law enforcement. Other revenue generating ideas and other changes to city services will also be discussed. The city cut $1.5 million last year and saved $3.5 from cuts voluntarily made by city employees."

Pacificans should demand the city provide numbers for current wages and benefits being paid. And these costs should be included in our options to make cuts.
Over 80 city employees were making over $100,000 a year in 2010. Yes some cuts were made last year but the city is not telling us how much and what was cut.
Please go to this meeting and demand to know the truth.
Where did you read that the format will be "walk-through" instead of a sit-down meeting?

Chris (127), I confirmed with the City Clerk prior to posting the article. And, as mentioned, an "open house" will be an easy in and out with flexible time.
Sometime prior "open house" was mentioned in some official capacity, although as you see the re-post articles say "meeting". This "open house" should be somewhat similar in style to the city's proposed Beach Boulevard project "open house" several months back.
Great. I was a bit worried about my ability to get there on time, so this is good.

This is a good idea by the city itself. It takes a lot of hard work and ideas to straighten out the financial issues. This is a good read, worth my time spent in reading it! Thanks for sharing!
