"Just four years before Daly City celebrated its centennial birthday, the Daly City Fire Department celebrated their 100th year with research into its past."We knew we needed to capture 100 years of history now because we had already lost a lot of our older members," said retired fire chief of the department Bob O'Donnell, 65........"The greatest satisfaction of the whole training came when you could watch a crew working an emergency scene and do it with no wasted motion, a constant sense of safety and proficiency," said Ciucci. "It was great satisfaction seeing my personnel be the very best they could be." O'Donnell was the chief in 1999, when the department partnered with the county along with 16 other agencies to create a countywide paramedic program....

Daly City brought control to an ongoing fire in the Southern Hills area through its gorse abatement program. "It is the first jurisdiction in the stat to have a designation of Special High Severity Zone removed," according to the centennial booklet.  The North County Fire Authority, established in 2003, provided administrative governments for three cities: Daly City, Brisbane and Pacifica, with headquarters in Daly City. The fire department celebrated its 100th Anniversary of service to the Daly City community on Aug. 2, 2007..."   Full article.
