this is cool history. all the more reason to preserve sharp park golf course. We should have a plague installed with a picture about the history of the internment camp. I bet many asian golfers would like this mentioned and golf preserved.
How about helping to mark it as a pacifica historical site. And, Sharon, read your history a little better. I can be as snarky as the rest, but your comment really has no place here.
Great idea Jim, and it ties in with the GGNRA cultural component. You could save the golf course as part of making the entire area an historical landmark! Wow, wouldn't that be fantastic.
Todd, entire golf course an historical landmark? This is an old issue, and city council majority didn't bite.
Wagner, what Sharon said is just a Sharp Park insider golf course joke. Its been a long time since 1942, some of us don't remember as well as you do (lol).
Anyhow the WWII detention camp looks like the new enviro housing plan for the quarry. Leaves lots of room for endangered species if Swenson will build it. Those buildings in the back could be eco green energy trade stores, and a new artist center. Brings in lots of bucks for a new tax proposal. The city report says it does.
Anon@7:28 are you serious? Love the let's have a 'plague' typo but I wonder how the Japanese feel about commemorating this camp. I guess it could be done with tact and sensitivity. I hope.

I wonder if they served snake steaks garnished with frog legs for their dinners. Maybe that's where all the snakes went!
