Not-contained fires can spread quickly, San Jose


Remember, there were comments about the small 4th of July fire at Pedro Point?

San Francisco Chronicle/SF Gate/Jenna Lions, 7/13/15. "San Jose fire spreads next to 101"

"A San Jose fire that spread near the highway has shut down a lane on southbound 101, according to California Highway Patrol.

CHP spokesman Officer Ross Lee said the blaze started in a building in the 4900 block of Snow Drive, then the fire jumped to grass on the righthand shoulder of southbound 101 south of Hellyer Avenue. San Jose Fire Department is currently putting out the fire.

“CHP personnel is on the scene doing traffic control,” he said. “Currently they have the number four lane of southbound 101 shut down.” Officials first received calls reporting smoke in the area View image on Twitter at about 3 p.m., Lee said. It is unsure when the lane will reopen."
