Ann Edminster is a classic, militant Pacifica NIMBY who counts on tying things up in red-tape to get her way. If she's unhappy, then you know the correct decision was made.

Can we please have some Salami and Cheese to go with all her whine!!

I don't think they'll ever finish more than 3 or 4 houses at Harmony so the decision doesn't matter. How long have they been futzing around up there? Apparently no buyers so Coldwell-Banker sent a marketing team to Beijing about a year ago. Nada. What ferocious irony if Harmony becomes the wreck on the hillside used to further demonize development. Eh, by then we'll be county run. Great town for a mini-jail or some half-way houses. That's an economy, right?

WAAAAAAAAAH!!! said...

If Ann is such an expert, she should know to let the facts speak for themselves. Instead she devolves into petty schoolyard personal attacks and name calling. She sounds like a crybaby who can't handle that she didn't get her way.

The Harmony @ 1 developer's Facebook site says one lot is under ocntract. Anyone know anything about this?

Anonymous said...

231 Edminsters aren't cry-babies. "Pandering". Wow, that even sounds unseemly and unsavory. Karen Ervin is full of surprises.

301 IDK. Maybe sort of a model house so they have something to show potential buyers? Come take the tour potential buyer of a 5 million dollar Pacifica home and enjoy a complimentary weekend at ????? OMG where do we put them? The Ritz in HMB. Yeah.

Steve Sinai said...

@2:30, Given the housing market in the Bay Area, and the number of people with money to burn who would love a home with an ocean view, I can't imagine there's a lack of buyers. The issue is more likely that it takes forever to get approval to build anything in Pacifica.

Anonymous said...

Sinai, that's the California coast for ya, not just Pacifica. Try building on the Monterey Peninsula or in Malibu or Santa Monica. People with the money to buy 5 million dollar homes understand a new home takes time and they don't expect to move in tomorrow so why haven't any of them sold? The hurdles to building on this coast are well known. There is a lot of money floating around. They've marketed the project in China where smart money is leaving the country and the SF Bay Area is known and still no takers? I just think they're off to a very slow start and that makes them very vulnerable to the next market hiccup. Not so much because the rich will disappear, but because they love bargains as much as anyone. At least Sonora Shores won't get stuck with an inventory of homes. They'll just have empty lots.

The developers have 9 million dollars in loans on the property!

The pre-site grading was way over budget.

Saying you have one property in contract is a quick cheesey way to build up interest.

My prediction, and you all heard it here first, they sell 3 and get foreclosed on!

Young hipster techies and biotech people have money to spend and blow, correct. But they want to be in the City. Or they want to be down in Atherton. What does Pacifica offer them? The Sea Bowl and Surf Shop? A Safeway? A Taco Bell on the beach? Linda Mar Beach with no parking? Pedro Point Shopping Center with even less parking? Linda Mar Shopping Center with vacant Denny's? Or Round Table for fine dining?

Harmoney @ 1 is a shitty spot for kids? Are you going to play out on Roberts Road? Plus there is an underground spring that has messed up the Condo's below.

Plus you are more than 2 times the highest comp in town. That is always a recipe for failure.

318, pandering? The project is another "alternative", the result of pandering. The timeline goes back to the Planning Commission and NIMBY City Council of 2007.
Conditions of approval include "19 single-spaced typewritten pages", fully influenced and controlled by the Gang of No, see Tribune/Norhrop, 5/5/15,here.
Considering the project itself, City Council majority did the right thing. And, be happy, another almost empty wasted land space in this City.

Kathy Meeh said...

437, what's the problem, they'll have a beautiful ocean view, and four (4) 7-Eleven convenience stores.
Viewing "all this City (doesn't) have", maybe they'll also support progress candidates for City Council (where leadership and votes count).

What 432 and 437 said. Sure hope the Canadians are playing with other people's money like Peebles did. Don takes care of Don. I like Canadians. Maybe the next buyer can build a hotel and condos? Oops, Larks and dirt naps for all of us on here before that happens.

Anonymous said...

Hey, maybe Sonora Shores can put their model home on Airbnb! Psst, guys, Pacifica fails to tax such arrangements, so go for it.

Anonymous said...

Talk to council "like I am six years old". Maybe then they'll understand, it's not hard to take a training in what you're voting on! Oh wait, all the 6 year olds I know already know that!!!

Anonymous said...

"Apparently no buyers" How would the bank even let this get past go without buyers?!!!

The real reason Ms. Edminster has her panties in a wad is that she didn't get her way.
This inflated egomaniac's letter uses "I" x 12 in her letter of self-righteous indignation and then squeezes in 65 more words at the end of her tantrum to impress everyone with her credentials.
Who gives a fuck what this spoiled brat and all her little sycophants think.
The only thing they are truly experts at is destroying Pacifica's economy for 38,000 other residents.
Ignore her. If we're lucky she'll pick up all of her toys and move away.

Anonymous said...

744 You know, if you're going to begin with that reference to her panties, you might want to steer clear of the community college psychology you follow up with--lest someone analyze your comments. Just a suggestion. BTW, are panties a recurring theme with you?

Anonymous said...

Snicker. Tait Cowan becomes Tait Coward on page 3. Guess Ms. Edminster was pissed.

Anonymous said...

639 You've got to be kidding!

Anonymous said...

I am surprised no one touched on this. She seems bitter she didn't get the gig!!

Think about it!

Anonymous said...

This tantrum coming from an eco-bully who advised the entire council and all of us watching at home that she was the mother of all things green and in fact was the most knowledgeable person "on the planet" about LEED.
This is quite amusing to watch.
Council hang in their and do not let yourselves be pushed around by these academic babies.

Tom Clifford said...

Ann is not bitter just very disappointed, by how hard City Council worked at staying ignorant. Councils decision harmed the developer he must now meet both standards without the benefits certification would have given, and also threw out the hundreds of hours of hard work by all involved in the original project.

Anonymous said...

Ann Edminster not bitter? How can you tell? She has a perpetual scowl on her face and talks down to everyone in the room.
If you want a friendly town start with yourself......
and no, a smirk is not the same thing as a smile.

Anonymous said...

Calling yourself the "number one expert on LEED standards on the planet" and then throwing a public temper tantrum when someone DARES to come to a different conclusion than you based upon their interpretation of the facts is a good way piss away any influence you may have had forevermore.

No one but those on the extreme left of the environmental spectrum will pay attention to Edminster now. She just lost the moderate ears on council and has only herself to blame with this dumb letter. Does she turn over the table and stomp off when she loses a Scrabble game too?

Anonymous said...

LOL... yeah her attitude is more important then her knowledge or expertise. You Fixies can't help but make fools of yourself given half the chance. Pacifica = butt crack nation. Buyers beware!

Anonymous said...

What a tirade! Rage. Oh well, at least he's not talking about her panties this morning.

Anonymous said...

9:34.....No. She runs for council

WAKE UP PACIFICA said...

If you're trying to move public opinion or consciousness, then yes attitude is as important as expertise and knowledge. These eco-bullies are losing the battle because they are losing public support.
Look what they do.....
They've destroyed our economy one developer at a time.
They use "traffic congestion" to stop quarry development.
They claim there is "no traffic congestion" to stop highway widening.
They frivolously sue to get their way and then force the taxpayers to pay for their time.
They try to close an historic public golf course enjoyed by thousands of humans to save a handful of phantom snakes and frogs.
They threaten civic servants with recall and worse.
They revel at commercial failures.
They look down their noses at anyone who they deem not knowledgeable or worthy.
In short, because of their actions and attitude they have lost credibility.
Maybe now we can finally start rebuilding our damaged city.

1202 They, they, they. WaaWaaWaa. Did you stamp your foot? The use of hysteria in propaganda is so dated. Today's audiences expect a lighter touch, a more nuanced approach. But, hey, you plow right ahead and next election you'll snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again.

Kathy Meeh said...

Wake Up Pacifica 1202, thank you for your "eco-bullies" reminder list, and for your clarity! Clarity is exactly what is needed in this brainwashed, too much "nuanced", confused acceptance City.

Although "eco-bullies", Gang of No, NIMBIES refuse to count balanced economy big numbers that will save and improve this City-- they sure know how to count to 2 or 3, the number of their candidates running for City Council election.
With regard to elections, people of progress must learn to count those little City Council candidate numbers, so that this City may survive, and lead to the improved economic big numbers (jobs, services, better City infrastructure and revenue).

No she runs and wins and gets on council

and pacifica is held hostage once again

Anonymous said...

Idiot voters were confused, brainwashed and faced with an over-abundance of great candidates.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Kathy Meeh said...

140, clarity is an observation of what is.
Core issues: Deficient City budget and infrastructure.
11/14 Election: 3 City Council positions, 4 progress candidates dilutes the vote.
"Eco-bully" story telling is just that: contrived to confuse.
"Eco-bully" track record: decades of BS, and anti-progress tactics.

BTW, what cooperation and solutions does your anti-progress gang offer to fix the City structural problems caused by your anti-progress gang? Still waiting....

Choices are dwindling, that's for sure. Can't deny the effect land give-aways have had on our economic choices. That ship has sailed. Ditto for the coastal zone effect. Stuck with those facts. I suspect that the amount and type of development now required to make Pacifica fiscally sound would create a Pacifica unacceptable to most Pacificans. When realtors and developers step up to save a community, it usually means lots of housing. It's what they do. A few years later the town is as broke as ever and it's lost whatever special character it had. Other choices? Pacifica will never be a commercial center because we are a suburb surrounded by world-class shopping. Hotels would generate lots of revenue but we would need savvy city leaders to pursue those. Not happening. Nonetheless, some people would accept any kind of growth and call it progress, but Pacifica still has plenty of people who find the idea appalling. How long can we continue as is? We may be close to the point where being an unincorporated town with county services makes the most sense. Not ideal, but a practical, probably unavoidable solution that would provide stability in services and funding through much better management.

Lancelle and Edminster 2016 or a reasonable facsimile. They'd be on the side of the angels, saving us from profiteers who would ruin bucolic Pacifica. Who you got?

Anonymous said...

I for one would worry if the Harmony @1 project fell into foreclosure. Who knows what the next owner would push for (15 homes, 20, more?) and how much the City officials would allow just to finally get that hillside completed.

The condos on Fassler Avenue were skeletons for years. Sitting half way build. They sold out the first phase and during construction the developers figured they were out of money and packed up the tents and left.

Anonymous said...

352 I wouldn't. Let's roll the dice! Maybe we'd get something other than low-density #$%&*@ housing. Maybe even something that generates significant revenue for the city. All Harmony needs is 10 buyers and so far looks like zilch.

Anonymous said...

You bet your bippy that Lancelle will re-launch her Council career with this.
Edminster is an old miserable hag who is not likeable. Lancelle will put on her Shirley Temple costume and be all bouncy and smiley and "sincerely concerned" and be the little puppet for the these cranky old eco-bullies.
We've got to look through the bullshit and prevent this relapse into NOBIE Nation.
Pacifica is out of chips. One more term of the party of NO will be the end of Pacifica for sure. If you don't care what happens to our town all you have to do is stay home and not vote.

Anonymous said...

358 Thanks for the memory. This town has shit for luck. Even when a project is approved and underway, it fails. It's a very risky business. As much as we like to think it's just here and the fault lies with you know who, it happens other places, too. We have so little to hope for and so many disappointments.

Kathy Meeh said...

644, stay home and not vote? Not voting is a vote for the opposition you just castigated. Vote smart and vote ONLY for those who will improve and fix this City. So who are you?

As for Ann Edminister and Julie Lancelle, they are both smarter, and have better personalities than you.
I like Ann and her family, I don't like the politics which have stunted this City.

Anonymous said...

Such gallantry 644! You might call the woman an "old miserable hag" but at least you're not talking about her panties. Be the change you want to see in the world, ok?

Anonymous said...

Fassler condos failed due to a bad economy and High interest rates.

Anonymous said...

741 Yup, it's a risky business anywhere, anytime.
