Storm conditions alert Wednesday through Friday, 12/10 - 12/13

Pacifica Tribune/Horace Hinshaw, Editor-in-Chief, 12/9/14. "The way I see it."  Commentary includes the city council reorganization tonight 7 pm; the rain below,  the joyous tree lighting; congratulations to Terra Nova football team.

Guess we'll head home
"More rain is expected in the Bay Area tonight and tomorrow.  Pacifica was hit hard last week. There were reports of much flooding and even uprooted trees. There were reports of man holes popping open. High water in the Linda Mar Shopping Center made it difficult for vehicles to navigate through the parking lot.  I've lived in Pacifica for over 40 years. I remember those winter rains where people were getting around the Linda Mar area in rowboats.

Weather officials are predicting strong winds tonight and lasting through tomorrow. Pacifica could be hit with high winds. For beachgoers, be careful when you're close to the water. Those waves can be brutal.  According to the weather service, the expected storm is part of a powerful, deep low-pressure system building in the Gulf of Alaska. The front is expected to hit our area sometime this evening. Our public works staff can expect to be busy."    Read article.

The house races are about to start. Who will be first to the bottom of the hill?

Tom Clifford, I think we all hope it isn't like that. I remember January 1982 very clearly. Let's hope everyone comes through this storm safely.

12:00 PM - Amen to that. Pacifica's aging infrastructure does not do well in these major storms. Let's hope this one is over-hyped and will not be that big a deal. But be prepared for some hillside, tree, power line, storm drain, flooding, or sewer plant failures. And all hail the public works crews who will be doing their best to take care of us.

Those 70-mile an hour winds delivered lots of trash to my little hillside street. Happy to toss it for ya, Pacifica! And no rate increase from me.

Souvenirs of the storm. Anyone on here missing two very plush and large mint green bath towels, one wash cloth and a matching floor mat? Landed in my back yard during the storm. I washed and dried them and they're like new. Anon, covert drop of these items at a safe location can be arranged.
