San Mateo County's top elected officials recently received a 3 percent raise and may see more in 2014. .... Vice President Dave Pine,
who is expected to be promoted to president on Jan. 7, said before the
vote that he wanted to review salary and benefit data from comparable
counties to see whether the pay bump was warranted. He noted that "the
board can revisit these salaries, so this is really a floor."
.... Elected department heads are
entitled to the same pay bumps that non-elected department heads
receive. A 3 percent increase was approved in November for workers
represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees and Service Employees International Union as well as for
unrepresented management, attorney and confidential employees. Those
groups make up about 70 percent of the county's workforce. Read article.

The fox is watching the hen house. They need to change this so elected officials only get a raise if they save taxpayers money, not spend more of it.
Is Pacifica's City Manager's pay still tied to how much department heads get paid? The same city manager that's in charge of negotiating said wages?
While we bash the city employee, let us not forget that our very own elected city council approves all union contracts and provisions therein. They're gettin' theirs. Picture a trough with a crowd of familiar faces all around.
Welcome to America!
That girl may be picking his pocket but that dude is picking her arse
