Measure V isessential
Our
small city is home to a diverse population of individuals, with many
differences of opinion on all kinds of issues. But one thing is for
sure: we agree that Measure V is essential for our community.
Measure V stays local, can't be taken by the state, and will provide a local source of revenue to protect the services we require.
Citizen oversight, annual audits and a sunset clause help ensure that these local funds will be used wisely to support the services that we prioritize locally.

And how quickly we forget.
Ginny got recalled due to a parcel tax.
Recall, them all!!
Ginny I think you're really out in left field on this one. "Everyone supports V" I don't know where you've been sweetie.
"Citizen oversight, annual audits and a sunset clause help ensure that these local funds will be used wisely to support the services that we prioritize locally."
Please! A citizens oversight committee. What are they going to oversee? All the money goes into the general fund which council can use for whatever legal use it wants. So says the ordinance. This is a canned diktat from the high priced political consultant designed to make us all act like droids, march to the polls, and vote the way they want us programmed. Don't fall for it. I'm voting no on V and I'm telling everyone I know to do the same.
The general fund is where most programs in Pacifica are supported out of. It makes sense that the monies will be allocated there. An involved community, participating in the oversight committee can and will see that funds are appropriately spent to support programs that are vital to the city.
I'm voting Yes on Measure V and asking everyone I know to do the same.
I'm going to Disneyland!
Anon, 1:04, can you tell me how a "citizens oversight" committee is going to make sure that an expenditure for $250,000 is spent "inside the city"?
Our cops mostly live outside of town. Is that money being spent "inside the city"?
Bad ordinance, bad governance, and hurtful to those most vulnerable. No on V!
5:11, "Our cops mostly live outside of town. Is that money being spent "inside the city" "?
Geez what a dumb question. It doesn't matter if cops live in Timbuktu. If they're Pacifica cops, they are being paid for working in Pacifica. The money is spent providing police services "inside the city."
Is Ginny Jaquith serious? She thinks everyone is in favor of this tax? I'm not even going to comment on that because I respect and appreciate all her past service to Pacifica.
618 It appears panic is setting in.
Hutch
Do you know she got recalled due to a lighting and landscaping tax?
When the city cuts a payroll check
is that general fund money? Well, genius, since it's coming from the general fund, and the new tax would go to the general fund and get all mixed up with the other money, does the committee need to make sure that those funds paid out in salaries are spent in the city? Dumb question I think not. Read the ordinance. If anything is lacking in intelligent design it's this ordinance. Another reason to Vote No on V.
711 I tried to decipher your post, but when you say "I think not" I envision a guy with a sword and a swirly cape, a mask and a moustache. Sorry, en garde!
"one thing is for sure: we agree that Measure V is essential for our community"
One thing was for sure Ginny, you and our city council couldn't have been more out of touch with voters.
