Goodbye Councilmember/Mayor Pete DeJarnatt

Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, 12/4/12.  "Champion of environmental causes, Pete DeJarnatt, leaves City Council after 16 years."

Pete DeJarnatt

"I knew it was time to leave," DeJarnatt, 60, said. "I can no longer do the job as effectively as I like. I'm burned out. You have to have a very thick skin to do this job. Fortunately, only a small number of people are constantly attacking you, but I'm weary of it. It's time for new people to come in."

He has a long history of supporting environmental concerns on City Council. He worked to preserve the headlands parcel on Pedro Point. He expanded Pacifica's hiking and biking trails and preserved the existing trails. He was in favor of turning Mori Point over to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and he is pleased with the results. It exceeded his expectations. "GGNRA has spent a ton of money and has done a great job turning that into a people-friendly and wildlife-friendly area," he said. He also worked to transfer Cattle Hill to the GGNRA.

....  He also worked on the growth control ordinance and the hillside preservation district.

"When you make a promise that you will do your best, you have to do it. This is a difficult job. It's difficult to deal with every person's individual problems. I thank the voters for their faith in me. It's been my honor to serve the community for the years that I have served," he said.   Read article.

Old balanced-budget-petey. This guy is one of the main causes of this mess we have for an economy in this town. Ever since Curtis has fallen off his game Petey doesn't know what to say or do. Wonder if he'll show for the final council meeting monday nite. Better yet, stay true to form and don't attend. Make sure to collect, though. Ole do-nothing petey. What a legacy!

A 14 year city structural deficit matches his watch. We can't afford his ilk any longer.
He left this town in pretty bad shape.....

This guys is so out of touch he has no comprehension of the financial destruction wrought by his policy. Even worse he doesn't understand why people are angry with him for wrecking our city.
Tod Schlesinger should give the farewell speech.
