A fractious election is under way within the Sierra Club’s San
Francisco Bay Chapter, as displeasure with the environmental group’s
opposition to various housing developments has fueled an effort to elect
a slate of newcomers to take over the executive committee.
The challengers have varying goals: Some want the organization to support development projects that include high-rise towers while others want to make the group more racially diverse.
The group’s slate is made up of a real estate agent, three female candidates who say the local chapter needs to diversify and one longtime Sierra Club member who has been relatively supportive of development projects. Except for the longtime member, they all joined the group this year or last.
In response to the challenge, the Sierra Club has sent out mailers accusing “luxury real estate developers and other powerful interests who oppose a strong environmental voice” of “waging a campaign to hijack the S.F. Sierra Club.”
The last time to vote for the five seats up for election on the nine-person executive committee is Friday at 2 p.m. The results will be announced next week.

Hijackers? LMAO. What happened to see something, say something? And that color alert system? Nobody noticed they were being infiltrated? By realtors no less. They don't make tree huggers like they used to.
Commies crying? Give me a break. Commies have infiltrated everything. Time to take our country back.
Yes. And give it back to the Indians.
Commies is an easy go to. It's really entitlement mentality "full bloom".
"Hijacked" is an excellent term. Yes, the Sierra Club has been hijacked by the extreme environmentalists for quite some time now. This can easily be confirmed. Look at their position on all things environmental. It is always the extreme position. Never any balance. Very much the EarthFirst! agenda: "Mankind is a pox upon the planet and must be eradicated, thus returning the planet back to nature."
No better example of this than the GGNRA's unholy alliance with the Sierra Club. What was formerly a National Recreation Area, created for the enjoyment/recreation of humans by respecting the historical usage of its properties (as stated in its Congressional enabling legislation) is now being recast as a "wilderness area". Basically, this is code for "no humans allowed". Don't believe me? Check out the new GGNRA General Management Plan and tell me where I am wrong.
It's time to bring some balance back to the Sierra Club as well as their partnering organizations.
Being that I have Native American blood in me I will recommend everyone keep what they have. Indians lost. Ok? Now move on. Stupid commies.
Commies! It's so retro. Go old skool.
