San Francisco Chronicle/Hamed Aleaziz, 12/24/15. "Rain to pound Bay Area through Christmas morning."

....  "San Francisco has received 4.92 inches of rain in December as of 10 a.m. Thursday. That’s around seven inches less than last year’s December rain total, according to Henderson, who also noted that more than 3 inches of last year’s December total came on one day alone.

While early Christmas morning could bring some widely scattered showers to the Bay Area, the forecast is expected to turn dry and cold for the rest of Friday and Saturday. The agency has issued a freeze watch for the region beginning Friday night and through the weekend for the overnight hours, Diana Henderson (a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Monterey) said. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 50s for the afternoon on Friday and Saturday.

Christmas should also be the last day of the year the Bay Area experiences King Tides, which brings some of the highest tides several times annually to the region, the weather service said."  Read more.

Hi Tom, I added your comment as part of the photograph caption, and hope the pier can be repaired.
