audiences of NIMBIES, and calling that "community".

After 6 years and prior General Plan
forums, not enough "information" to
fix "NIMBY broken by design" Pacifica?

"The process to rewrite the city's general plan, which hasn't been done since 1980, began about six years ago with community forums designed for a large number of residents to weigh in on changes.
However, the city ran out of money to fund the community forums and to pay the consultant hired, Dyett & Bhatia, to do the rewrite. The rewrite process began again with an open house followed by a study session last week. Members of the public had a chance once again to review the general plan at that meeting as large poster boards with each main topic were on display.

Planning Commissioners and City Council members had an opportunity to review the draft changes that had been developed from the community forums, as well. The process is ongoing, with no deadline in place to finalize the general plan update, said the city's consultant, Peter Winch of Dyett & Bhatia, who presented an overview of the general plan process at the meeting.

In the 2009 community forums, Pacificans said they would most like to see open space preserved, but fiscally, the city lagged, so the challenge was to reflect in the general plan both open space preservation and smart economic development.   Read article.

Damn nimbies always showing up and speaking out! Vile habit. And so American.

454, more like a cabal, with mob rule. So Third World.

Kathy you need to motivate your army to turn up. Democracy relies on people not just complaining, but doing something. At the moment all the representation is from the other side.

I concede there are some similarities.

544, City elected leadership should move forward for the benefit of the City and the people, and they should educate-- that's why we elect them. See "Democracy".

The last City Council hired a City Manager who has brought-in key economic and development managers. Again, kudos to her, and that's a good start to fix the seriously deficient economic and balance issues which have and confounded this City over 30+ years.

Guess you just motivated others to "turn up", although the one-sided NIMBIES with lopsided ideology, swamping City meetings are looking kind of fanatical (rather than reasonable) these days. So, that "complaining" may work in favor of those who are affected by "all this city doesn't have."

929 They're your people, but I'd choose someone other than Woody Allen as my life coach and inspiration. Woody's reputation is a tad soiled. I guess this is part of that tone-deaf thing.

740 Kathy, Heroic as that would be, it would also be political suicide. Our council is neither heroic nor suicidal.
Just a bunch of small town politicians. Basically, they're your high school student council without the pimples.

I think 80% of the classes I took in college, you showed up and you passed.

Kathy

The economic development manager is a joke. Loeb and his goons won't ever let anything happen.

Pacifica is just a bloated whale carcass waiting to implode.

412 Oh Snooky, the goons are everywhere and of course they're going to hire an econ dev mgr. Surest way to silence the critics. But rest assured no economic development will occur!
Instead I predict the new hire will announce a discovery. They found the 4 million!!!!

409 Some teachers will give an A if you don't show up. Maybe you were robbed?

Nah I went to class now and then. When I wasn't fishing partying or carousing.

946 A well-rounded course of study should involve those real-world vignettes. Prepares ya for life no matter what rickshaw you land in.

The new Economic Development Manager is Anne Stedler and she has been on-board for about three weeks.

So she arrived with the dead whale. Bad omen? Nah, I feel richer already. You?

Would that be Anne H. Stedler? From Linked In: Recently Econ Dev Mgr for City of Los Altos, formerly 14 years Sr. Dev Officer for SJ Redev Agency and prior 14 yrs Special Projects in Long Beach. Self-described as an Economic Development expert driving urban commercial real estate projects.

Love the commercial part. Lots of experience, years at the beach. Older, mid-60s. Career public employee. Oh please make her a good one!
