Old news, competition for Godzilla

And Cabazon, CA, a town with almost zero potential, is a destination for a Dinosaur park, Premium Outlet shopping, and a Casino.  Any reason for tourist to stop, stay, shop and bring-in more revenue for the City of  Pacifica?  And for residents and tourists, any reason for business to thrive here?

Godzilla's almost got nothin' on me
Paleontologists in Argentina say they have unearthed the fossils of the biggest dinosaur ever to walk the planet. The bones are believed to be from a new species of the aptly named titanosaur, a massive herbivore from the late Cretaceous period, officials from the Museo Paleontologico Egidio Feruglio told BBC News.
The titanosaur was a sauropod, like the apatosaurus or brachiosaurus, that roamed the forests of Patagonia 95 million years ago.

"Given the size of these bones, which surpass any of the previously known giant animals, the new dinosaur is the largest animal known that walked on Earth," the researchers told BBC News. Based on the size of the largest thigh bones, the scientists calculated that the titanosaur weighed around 170,000 pounds and measured 130 feet long and 65 feet tall.  Read article.

"In the thousands if not millions of years we've evolved as part of nature, every day there was a sense that an animal would kill us or our family or attack our huts and caves," Edwards explains. "It's hardwired in our DNA to expect this, and now that our caves have become 30 stories high, our built-in fears also become 30 stories."

Article YEARS ago in the Pacifica Tribune about the remains of a possible Spanish horse found somewhere on Cattle Hill. Thoughts were that the items found with the bones might indicate that the animal dated from the early days of the Spanish explorers, possibly the Portola Expedition (discovery of San Francisco Bay. I believe it was front page news at the time; never heard anything more. Now if we only had some old dinosaur bones or that old battleship was still aground at Mori's Point, we might get a few extra tourists. Then again, maybe not.
