PG&E upgrading power lines Montara north, Pacifica south, helicopters assist

                     Roger, Linda Mar below....

Pacifica Tribune, 8/6/13. "PG&E working on electrical conductors in Linda Mar."

"For the next few months, PG&E will be upgrading power lines from the northern part of Montara to the southern end of Pacifica, mostly around   North Peak access and San Pedro Mountain roads. as well as Peralta Road in Pacifica and 1st Street in Montara. A temporary service interruption may be necessary.

PG&E contractor crews are working with ILB (International Line Builders). There will be more truck traffic in the area. Occasionally, a road will be closed so helicopters can drop poles for installations in remote areas. A take off and landing site for helicopters will be set up east of Highway 1 north of Montara."

The Pre-Apprentice Lineman job at PG&E starts at $24.99/hour, plus comprehensive benefits.

It's not so hard to believe a journeyman lineman makes a lot more. Let's say $60 an hour. A 25 hour weekend gig would be over $3000 at double time. They get triple time after so many hours.

So my friend making over $200,000 at PG&E is not so hard to believe is it?

This is another one of your fantasy stories, like the cop demanding a discount at the store in SF.

That $3,000 earned is also subject to taxes. I can see you haven't earned a paycheck in quite a while.

Of course it's taxable, that has nothing to do with it.

There is a lot of work to be done. Upgrades are needed everywhere it seems, so it is a industry that will provide good work for many of our men and women. Anyone that sees this as bad needs their head examined.

This project was just shut down by the Coastal Commission. PGE and the contractors involved never bothered to check with the Coastal Commission first.

As much as I was glad this vital work was underway, I am also very amused that PG&E got a smack down from the CCC. Muscle-flexing is over, let the work resume.
