Slow traffic at Devil's Slide tunnels this evening and Friday night

Half Moon Bay Refiew/Staff, 4/11/13. "One-way traffic control at tunnels Friday and Saturday nights."

We forgot to mention, tunnels closed
"The work continues at the Devil’s Slide tunnels. Caltrans announced late Thursday that it would need to close lanes of traffic around both bores on Thursday and Friday nights. The reason: “Caltrans will need to perform paving and striping of the permanent approaches,” according to a press release from the state transportation agency that was sent less than three hours before the work was set to commence.

One way traffic control will be in affect from 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday in the area south of the tunnels. One lane of traffic is expected to remain open at all times and flaggers will alternate north- and southbound traffic.

A similar situation will prevail at the tunnels Friday night and Saturday morning. That work is set to start at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The tunnels opened to enormous fanfare on March 23. This is at least the second time crews have had to touch up stripping at the recently completed multi-million project."

Hi,

I drove my close to 90 year old San Francisco native father through the tunnels the other day. As a person who is not as spry as he used to be, he commented on the ample emergency parking area on the right being across the road from the emergency phones on the left. A good point I hadn't considered. Has anyone else pointed this out?

I Always enjoy Fix Pacifica!
