Pacifica Tribune/Barbara Arietta, Correspondent. "California Coastal Commissioner Carol Groom guest speaker at next Democrats' meeting."

"In recognition of Earth Day, newly appointed California Coastal Commissioner Carole Groom will be the next guest speaker at the monthly breakfast meeting of the Pacifica-Daly City Democrats on Saturday morning, April 20, 2013. The 9:30 to 11: 30 a.m. ...

Groom, who is currently a San Mateo County Supervisor, was appointed by Assembly Speaker John A. Perez last November to the open seat vacated by a newly elected Assemblyman from Santa Cruz.

Well-known as a consensus builder from her service on the San Mateo City Council and Planning Commission, as well as the San Mateo County Transportation Authority and numerous other boards and commissions throughout the county, she has a track record of working with communities to protect natural resources and protect public access. Her commitment to the community's environment fits well with the mission of the California Coastal Commission, which was established by voter initiative in 1972 and made permanent in 1976, to protect, conserve, restore and enhance environmental and human-based resources on the coast.  The California Coastal Commission is composed of 12 voting members who are appointed in equal number by the Governor, the Senate Rules Committee and the Speaker of the Assembly."  See article for more information.
