of public policy discussions continued at the Community Center, where
San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom spoke to 47 Pacifica business
leaders and invited guests.

This was the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee's second meeting in a series of meet and greets with elected officials and business leaders who are in positions to facilitate progressive decisions in Pacifica and assist Pacifica with the many projects and challenges on the horizon. Local business owners, members of the Chamber's board, library foundation, school district, school volunteers and city council were there, including Mayor Len Stone and Council members O'Neill and Ervin.
The first meeting featured newly elected State Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, previously Mayor of South San Francisco. Additional speakers to be scheduled every 4 -5 weeks will include Supervisor Don Horsley; economic development experts; representatives of Northern California high tech and bio-tech associations; political consultants and public opinion pollsters.
The intent of these briefings and fact finding meetings is to introduce the Pacifica business community and involved local residents to a wide range of decision makers and elected officials. Coming out of the last recession and certainly struggling with developing a deeper local economy requires the insights from and assistance of many people in the County and throughout northern California. The Chamber would like to thank A Grape in the Fog and Mazzetti's Bakery for hosting our refreshments.

The exact head count is actually included in the article. Sort of a funny detail to mention. Was there a problem getting people to attend or keeping the crashers out?

Who thought of this super dorky title? I get the welcome elected officials but I dont get "city progress". That is a question and not a statement. The government affairs committee has been successful in distributing donuts and coffee, and the politicols have been successful in consuming these goodies, but what have they done for Pacifica lately? I'm talking Mullin. I'm talking Groom. They havent done a g-damned thing for Pacifica. I dont see progress. I see more closed shops in Rockaway than ever. More closing shortly or moving out, so I hear. Show me a supervisor or assembly person who brings a single job or single business to this town and donuts are on me!

Consider, you don't see because you don't look or attempt to understand in the context of even one decade. The city is seriously crippled by anti-development and anti-progress mistakes of the past, but there is hope. This city council four, and this Chamber of Commerce are part of the solution, as are our regional county Supervisors. Supervisors have supported Sharp Park Golf Course and highway efforts, as well as other issues which affect the region (including health and welfare).
If you are depressed, see a physician.
I'm sick of hearing about how Sharp Park somehow does anything economically for Pacifica - it's BS. I've talked to a lot of business owners up and down Palmetto and the consensus is SP is a total black hole as far as they are concerned. Want to say that SP is a recreational resource, fine, it is. But we need to stop lying to ourselves that SP does anything for Pacifica in terms of revenue. And if all we can do is drink the koolaid, well then we deserve whats coming.
