Connecticut signed strong gun legislation into law today

Fox News/Politics/Associated Press, 4/4/13. "Connecticut Governor Malloy signs wide-ranging gun limits into law."

....  "Now, Connecticut joins states including California, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts in having the country's strongest gun control laws, said Brian Malte, director of mobilization for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence in Washington. "Thiswould put Connecticut right at the top or near the top of the states with the strongest gun laws," Malte said.

The legislation adds more than 100 firearms to the state's assault weapons ban and creates what officials have called the nation's first dangerous weapon offender registry as well as eligibility rules for buying ammunition. Some parts of the bill would take effect immediately after Malloy's signature, including background checks for all firearms sales.  Following a total of more than 13 hours of respectful and at times somber debate, the House of Representatives and the Senate voted in favor of the 139-page bill crafted by leaders from both major parties in the Democratic-controlled General Assembly. Both were bipartisan votes.

How crazy is congress ?
....  Compared with Connecticut's legislation, which, for example, bans the sale or purchase of ammunition magazines holding more than 10 rounds, New York restricted magazines to seven bullets and gave owners of higher-capacity magazines a year to sell them elsewhere. Colorado banned ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.  But some lawmakers said they felt the legislation did not do enough to address mental health issues. ....  "It's just the beginning of this bill. In six months from now, it's going to get stronger and stronger," Dan Garrett said. "I think they're watching us all over the country."  Read article, includes an embedded  news videos, 2nd video includes the counter view from Wayne Lapierre.

Related -  NBC News, 4/4/13, includes an embedded video, 12:04 minutes. "Lawmakers had worked to
forge a bipartisan consensus around the bill. The final package limited the size of gun magazines to 10 rounds, expanded the state's existing assault weapons ban, and required universal background checks on all gun sales in the state. The bill passed by bipartisan majorities in both the Senate and the House."

Is that DiFi selling her guns that she manufactures? I know she took a group of people on a tour of the company that makes military style assault weapons. Her and her hubby have lots of money invested in that company. They better make a quality product.

"...her guns that she manufactures?" Anonymous 8:26 PM.

Oh that's funny. The picture is about the assault weapons ban Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced 1/24/13 and tried to bring to the Senate floor. International Business Times 1/24/13 describes the proposed legislation, which was not advanced in the Senate. To avoid further confusion, I have changed the picture caption from "IQ, or self-interest?" to "How crazy is congress?"

About your comments, how about showing us the facts. Otherwise, your allegations are just another missile from an alternative right-wing universe.

Kathy, it does not take a adult to find the you tube video of her and a group touring her company that manufactures military assault weapons. A baby could find it. I think they show it in Isreal schools.

Diane Feinstein, wants to take everyone elses guns away so she can carry a gun in her purse.

She has to be 85 by now and her and her weirdo husband made enough money by screwing over taxpayers.

Move on let someone else in.

"Diane Feinstein wants to carry a gun in her purse." The issue is licensing, screening, identity-- and getting high capacity magazine guns off the street.

The state of Connecticut has passed model legislation, whereas Congress has yet to address this issue in a way that is meaningful to the American people. USA Today. 3/20/13.
