Remember, careful backing out of YOUR driveway

Central Coast/Mercury News, Eric Kurhi, 4/8/13.  "Monterey county:  Mom runs over 4-year-old while backing out of driveway; boy airlifted to hospital."

"MARINA -- A young boy is in grave condition after his mother accidentally backed into him as she was pulling out of her driveway in what police describe as a "tragic accident" Monday morning.

According to Marina police Commander Bob Nolan, family members had lost track of the 4-year-old child and mistakenly believed he was being watched by someone else. The woman was leaving for work shortly before 10 a.m. when she reversed her vehicle into the boy.  "Family members began their own emergency treatment of the boy, which reportedly included conducting CPR, until the arrival of emergency personnel," wrote Nolan in a statement.

Medical workers found the child was suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries and he was immediately transported to Marina Municipal Airport, where he was placed in a helicopter and taken to a trauma center. Nolan said late Monday afternoon that they do not know the boy's condition.  Nolan told The Associated Press that there was no indication the incident was anything but "a bad accident."

I remember this happening a couple years ago in SSF. The mom put the baby carrier behind the car and put everything in the car and forgot the baby and ran it over.

This happens more often than you think. I saw a child run over by their mother in the 80's in Pacifica. The child died at Seton later that day. Know for sure where your kids are.
