Subject: SF Littoral Cell meeting tomorrow Nov 15

Hello everybody,

A meeting of folks interested in the SF Littoral Cell will be held tomorrow, Tues, Nov 15 from 1:00 to 4 at BCDC,  455 Golden Gate, Suite 10600, in the McAteer Petris conference room.  This is about 7 minutes from BART.  You can enter the building from the side that BART is on, at 350 McAllister and proceed across the lobby to the elevators to come up to the 10th floor.

The main focus of the meeting is coming up with a list of areas in the SF littoral cell that are suitable for EIRs.  The California Natural Resources Agency has provided a $200,000 grant to do the EIRs within the cell.  Chris Potter  of CNRA will be the lead.

We also hope to have an update from John Dingler on the final of the Army Corps of Engineers and the Coastal Sediment Management Group study of the SF Littoral Cell.

A somewhat more detailed agenda will be available at the meeting.

Hope to see you there!

Best, John Keener

Anyone see any notice of this anywhere besides here? Or is this another Keener end-run.

Only here. Isn't it the law that they're required to give at least 72 hours notice of any public meeting at which decisions are made?

Anonymous said...

It's a secret meeting, part of the communist conspiracy.

5:19 SF Littoral Cell is not a governmental body. It's a policy document being developed by the Coastal Sediment Management Workgroup. There's no requirement for posting a public notice 72 hours in advance.

Littoral Cell is 100% biased towards banning the armouring of the coast and implementing managed retreat.
This is the font of the propaganda being spread by Bob Batallio and John Keener. This theoretical science has been merged with theoretical storylines about sea level rise which in turn has been adopted by the NOBY's as the ultimate weapon to stop any and all development in Pacifica. The NOBY's manipulated our recent election to achieve a majority on council to support their extreme enviro no growth agenda.
Keener, Deirdre and Digre are now free to turn Pacifica's business and residential districts into dreamy wetland habitats.

There are two code words and a secret handshake to get in to the top secret, Who Really Runs Pacifica" Group.

Never ever question the leadership, Loeb, Verby, Hall, Dejarnatt, Lancelle, etc etc.

Sad that a secret handshake and two code words is all it takes to completely fuck up Pacifica and make it impossible for all others to live here.

9:06 That's a lot of leadership. Who you got? O'Neill and now Vaterlaus?

Anonymous said...

O'neall and Vaterlaus are the only rational people on the council who will actually serve all of Pacifica.
Digre, Keener and Deirdre will only serve themselves and the enviro-bullies who think they know how to run a city.

Anonymous said...

Vaterlaus isn't on city council yet.

O'Neil caved in on the second 7-11 vote thus he doesn't have a spine.

Big changes coming with new council.Mike will be pulled left center as Mayor!

Steve Sinai said...

All of the council members are already left of center.

Steve: In that case you would have rent control, already!

Steve Sinai said...

Rent control is something that people on the far-left support. Those who are moderately left don't necessarily support it.

San Mateo and Burlingame are heavily Democratic cities, and both had rent control measures that lost.

Anonymous said...

Because rich people in Burlingame and San Mateo don't care about renters.

Rent control in Pacifica is a pipe dream. It will do absolutely nothing to correct the problem of scarce housing. It will turn decent rental units into maintenance deferred dumps and disincentivise new construction of multiple unit dwellings. The same geniouses who have been snuffing out new construction in Pacifica don't get this. Now they have their council majority back with their puppet Deirdre (who claims she is "very smart") and they will be free to completely fuck up Pacifica some more. Can't wait for all the dreamy wetland ocean front they will create. Any bets on how long it will take these idiots to run Tinfow and staff out of town?

I'd be more inclined to sympathize with the concept of rent control if 90% of the supporters didn't also actively oppose the building of any new housing.

I'll put it bluntly: by acting at each and every opportunity to block any new housing, they've demonstrated themselves to be total hypocrites who don't give a crap about the plight of renters or affordable housing. They only support the rent issue inasmuch as it serves to stifle any new development or renovations, period.

The next time a home-owning rent-controller cries crocodile tears about unaffordable housing in Pacifica, ask them if they voted for Quarry housing, wanted a denser build-out at Harmony@1, or if they support teacher housing at Oddstad. If they don't, just laugh in their face and move on, because they're an absolute hypocrite who has no intention of seriously addressing the issue in any way beyond aping airy-fairy platitudes to each other.

Let's not forget that Deidre had no compunction about using the issue of rent control to squeeze more votes out of the low info voters.
These voters really have no idea how much they were manipulated and used as pawns by the NOBY's to win back control of Pacifica.
No morale center. Just pure greed to furthur their "I got mine, screw everyone else" agenda.
These are the same rotten tactics that gave us the new freak in the White House.
God help America. As for Pacifica? Forget about it.

LOL 1:21. Deirdre had no compunction about stating her policy positions in advance so people would know what she stood for and why to vote for her.

121 You're hilarious. More laffs than Trump and his Corinthians.

9:44, Deirdre was for managed retreat until the uproar in west sharp park erupted then she wasn't. In reference to 8:15, there are more rental units in Burlingame than owner occupied so explain those results. I would like to posit and idea, renters are those millennial's THAT DIDN'T VOTE. That's why this country has gone to the right. Easy to blame someone else for the lack of interest to self interest that seems to be pervasive.

4:19. Deirdre understands that the concept of managed retreat does not mean abandoning Beach Blvd. and the neighborhood. Apparently, you do not.

Anonymous said...

@4:19 Retreat, by definition and in practice, means moving back.
Beach Boulevard is right next to the ocean. If you're not going to abandon it, there's no retreat to manage.
Are we to believe what she says, or what you say she understands?

Anonymous said...

And managed, by definition, means to control. Managed retreat means to manage where and how the retreat occurs. In some areas you can let the retreat occur unabated, and in others you can slow or stop it. Which is which is based on careful cost benefit analysis, and by all accounts, beach blvd is one of the areas to be preserved.

It doesn't matter what Deirdre thinks "managed retreat" is or isn't. What matters is the intention of her handlers.
These faux-enviro extremists want Pacifica all to themselves. The easiest way to accomplish this goal is to let the whole city go to shit, which will deter both tourists and developerrs from crossing our borders. As we have already seen, for them the end always trumps the means.
Tinfow and staff may as well start packing up their offices now. We're in for a real ride.
Pacifica's environmental family has more in common with the family business taking over America than you think.
