all development proposals for this site should be required to have a 50-year plan and a guarantee that the public will never have to pay to protect the development from erosion and sea level rise.

Will that new public library be loaning out scuba diving equipment
as well as fishing poles?
This property is worth $11.2 million dollars, yet the highest bid is under $4.1 million? Tax payers will only get a third of market value?
City Council thinks you're rich and stupid.
They just don't realize you're voters too.
Quiet everyone...the mighty Peter Loeb has spoken.
He believes that rent control will solve Pacifica's problems and if you don't agree with him he'll sue you.
He should head up the committee to determine what should be built here.
Let's see.... below market rental shacks, outdoor toilets for humans and dogs, no fences, fire pits for circle dances and a big statue of himself for all to worship.

This is a great press release. Brimming over with hope and chirp. Maybe just the tiniest speck of desperate denial, but not enough to kill the dream. All ten proposals recognize the space (and profit potential) is shared with a big new library and none of these development teams are concerned about storm damage. Hey, I suppose people told the pharaohs that the pyramids couldn't be built. Of course that was in the desert, with not an ocean in sight, non-union labor, cheap materials, no OSHA, no CCC and not only did the big boss think he was a god-other people did, too. Oh, what the hell! This could happen.

Faith-Our City Council spends like they have it:Grant funds and millions in up front developers money to City will make it better!
I'm an atheist, but building the library right next to the sink holes reminds me of the movie Idiocracy.
Is there no one left at City Hall with any common sense?
A library on Beach blvd before we've replaced the retaining wall does seem a little premature.
I would hate to have our haste to build a library endanger our emergency funding requests.
I could see governor Moonbeam saying "You want how much money to fix the same street you're about to build your new library on?!?!"
An aquarium would be better suited in that location instead of library.
It will attract a number of tourists. And can really make a positive difference to the rest of Pacifica.
It will be a revenue/profit making asset.
What about SeaWorld and a giant salt-water orca tank that opens to the ocean?
Put the new library where the old Sharp Park library is now and skip the whole lending out fishing equipment thing.
It would bring tourists.
It would bring green tourists.
It would bring hotel visitors.
It would bring restaurant visitors.
I know some greenies will say you cant keep fish in tanks, too cruel and some realtors will say you cant make repeat commissions selling a fish tank once, but kids would love it and it could really work. Kathy?
Maybe we need "Adopt a City" signs in Pacifica!
@4:18 -- Monterey Bay Aquarium uses sea water circulation. When it was built, I think it cost around $55 Million or so. A similar setup in Pacifica would be huge crowd puller. From Wikipedia: The Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) is a public aquarium located in Monterey, California, United States. The aquarium was founded in 1984 and is located on the site of a former sardine cannery on Cannery Row. It has an annual attendance of more than two million visitors. It holds thousands of plants and animals, representing more than 600 species on display. The aquarium benefits from a high circulation of fresh ocean water which is obtained through pipes which pump it in continuously from Monterey Bay.
Pacifica is ideal venue for a Sea World/Aquarium. It has the potential to create enough revenue to build 3 libraries in the future.
