When Lennie ran for city council he said he would streamline the whole permit process. The only thing city council did was take the people they wanted off city planning commission and put on the lackey's.
A 500 square foot addition should have been done over the counter and the planning commission meeting about this is a complete waste of time and money.
This addition takes place in the local coastal zone, so it must go to the Planning Commission.
After reading the Staff report I have no doubt that the P.C. will approve it.
Should have been done administratively. This process probably cost them $10,000 if you include all the reports, drawings, printing, engineering, city fees.
This is a reason why homes don't get updated in Pacifica very often.
The new office, under construction building, at 12 Sharon way is 100' from the Ocean waves. They were told by Pacifica don't worry about Coastal Development Permits & Site development permits! Too much trouble. Where is the fairness? The city believes the office building is exempt for some reason, but is wrong.
Secret subdivsions, secret projects, pet projects, "the click" projects, that's how it works in Pacifica.
We're the city with 4 million secrets.
I still want to know where the $7,000,000 surplus went that deJarnut was bragging about in order to get re-elected.
We have such short memories.
Short memories? Quite impossible to forget the past when the current clowns pull the same old shit. Watch your money suckahs, now you see it, now you don't. It's unsavory no matter who does it, but which is worse? A candidate, arguably, bragging we're better off than we are, or a so-called new and improved council that for years spends, conceals and fucks it up just like the old one. These are the questions that bedevil our souls. Or should.
Of course some of us are just more nostalgic than others and need to reminisce. I don't judge.

Just one thing, if anyone tries to make us a charter city, you might want to pay attention.
Riptide has candidate questions and answers by Victor Spano on YouTube. Great to hear him answer in his own words questions we all want to ask. Thoughtful and reasonable responses. I applaud his honesty and his willingness to put it out there. Rare. Picked a great backdrop, too.
In the short term we should all watch what Council does with the sewer fund. First they say they have a surplus in the sewer maintenance fund so it will be fine if councils borrows 2.7 million from it. One month later we need to raise sewer fee's 2.9% in part because we need money for our 20 year maintenance program.
Next up is changing how the fee is collected. Instead of collecting it on the property tax bill as collect it, they now want to collect it on the water bill. You might say so a payment every other month would be easier to handle then a twice a year billing, but you would miss the fact that we would no longer have our bills based on the two wettest months of the year. Instant fee increase!!!
If you rent and pay your own water bill,Welcome to the club, and don't expect your landlord to reduce your rent.
More money available to borrow the next time the Council feels the need.
This is a $50-60 million pot of money that the public better pay attention to or it will go to the same place the $4 million went.
