I just wanted to say congratulations to the winners and thank you to every one who voted for me. I am proud of every vote I earned.
When I set out, I wanted to do two things: (1) Get people focused on providing jobs and increasing business in Pacifica; and (2) provide a voice for those who had been affected by the economic downturn. I am proud that I have accomplished both goals.
I hope our leadership will remember the promises they made during the election. I promised to support Pacifica and the Pacifica Resource Center, and even though I have lost the election, I will keep my promise.
Thank you for supporting me, Pacifica. If you can afford it, consider a donation to the Pacifica Resource Center this holiday. With the downturn in the economy, the need for assistance, even small assistance, has risen dramatically. PRC needs things from small toiletries to cat food to cash-in-kind donations.
Finally, if you are struggling, please don't be ashamed to reach out and seek help. Pacifica is a wonderful town filled with caring people. Your neighbors do care and you should not be ashamed. We all need a friend sometimes.
Thank you, Pacifica, and Congratulations to Len, Sue, and Jim.
Heather
very classy move
Sue & Jim on Council again=chapter 9 bankruptcy
Heather
I meant to say very classy post
You put in the time and effort, everyone did who ran and worked on the council campaigns.
Everyone else just sat on the sidelines and pointed fingers back and forth.
Wow! Congratulations Mr. Stone.
I wonder if Vreeland will come out from hiding now. Will he show up for council meetings. This is scary.
Thanks, Angry Pacifican! I am a classy gal and will always stay true to myself. I didn't win because of the way I ran my campaign and because Pacifica thought other candidates were better suited for Pacifica. But I won't turn my back on Pacifica. Can't say I'll ever run again, but I will still be using my skills and my voice for the things I care about.
... Barbara Arietta, reeeeeejected!
Some thoughts (feel free to disregard):
LEN STONE 4,137 16.3%
I thought Stone might do well... but getting the highest number of votes? Wow! Great job. Wonder if it was the canvassing that did it.
SUE DIGRE 3,792 15.0%
I'm surprised by Digre's numbers. Thought she'd place 4th.
JIM VREELAND 3,731 14.7%
Vreeland's re-election shocked me. Dude didn't show for anything (including City Council meetings), did zero campaigning beyond running ads and -- in my personal opinion -- didn't have much to run on. And still he coasts for a win!
WILLIAM "LEO" LEON 3,280 12.9%
Another surprise. I thought Leon had a win in him and was a good alternative for those who wanted to vote out the incumbents, but replace them with someone like-minded.
SUSAN VELLONE 3,180 12.5%
Didn't know much about Vellone. Seemed like a good showing.
BARBARA ARIETTA 2,426 9.6%
Lesson: sitting on 283 committees does not an election clinch.
THOMAS H. CLIFFORD 2,062 8.1%
I thought Clifford was going to do much better as he appeared to represent a great "middle-of-the-road" choice between the ecco and econ camps.
HEATHER TANNER 1,724 6.8%
Tanner did better than I thought. Congratulations to her and for her community involvement. I'd urge hear to run again in the future after some time and further community invovlement under her belt.
KARL F. DAVIDSON 1,009 4.0%
Never heard of him. Never saw him. Never saw a peep out of him during this whole election. I guess you can put your name on the ballot and be guaranteed a base 4%? Anyone know what gives with this guy?
I voted for Stone, Vellone and Clifford. One out of three isn't bad, although I didn't want the incumbents to win. Oh well, I have to accept the vote and get on with it.
Tanner, Davidson, thanks for getting the incumbents re-elected. Next time you want to stroke your vanity, run for governor.
I want to thank everyone who voted for me. You can be sure that I will continue to serve the people of Pacifica as a Planning Commissioner and will speak my mind on the issues at City Council meetings. Together we will make Pacifica a stronger and more prosperous city. Who knows? I might even run again in 2012.
Len worked hard canvassed everywhere I am sure he will be a great addition to the council.
Congrats Len.
You're welcome Tom. Thank you for stepping up to serve. I also like your idea about a trust fund in light of the parcel tax defeat. Looking forward to 2012 and a better Pacifica!
I liked much of what Tom said during his campaign, and appreciate the way he tried to reach out to both sides. It's disappointing to see the number of votes he got.
I also wouldn't blame Heather or Karl Davidson for keeping the incumbents in office. Although it took some effort to seek them out, Karl's positions looked a lot like those of Digre, Vreeland and Leone. He would have drained votes from the incumbents. Heather probably took votes away from everyone else in equal proportion.
Thanks, Steve. Nobody would run for election in Pacifica to stroke their vanity. If anyone has ever met me, they know I don't have a vain bone in my body. Putting myself out there is one of the hardest things I do, personally. I am a fairly private person, but I felt compelled to stand up for the things I stood up for. It was important, so I set aside my anxiety and said what I needed to say.
Its tough owning up to your thoughts, your beliefs, and holding them up for ridicule. I'm sure that's why many here choose to post anonymously. I applaud all of the candidates for putting their thoughts out there - even those whom I disagreed with.
"LEN STONE 4,137 16.3%

Either that or this town is full of Libertarians. Libertarians want to get rid of the 14th amendment, and Social Security. Among other things. Let's hope these views don't translate to local City of Pacifica issues.
I believe the Pacifica City Council doesn't have jurisdiction over the 14th Amendment and Social Security. And who says Len Stone is a Libertarian, anyway?
I agree with Steve. And who cares about issues outside our city control for city council office anyhow. Fix Pacifica. That's what we care about.
In reflecting on this campaign and others past, I think if you ran a successful high school campaign for President-- you might have some strategy ideas in running for Pacifica city council.
"you might have some strategy ideas"
Kathy, you make George W. sound like a Rhodes scholar.
Really Anonymous, that's all you got? Tell us why not.
Kathy,
take a week off and see what kind of discussions develope. You can be a little too quick to pull the trigger to show everyone why you're so smart. Let it develop every once in awhile.
It's not a pissing contest or even a question about who's right. It's about written expression and being intelligible to the reader.
You're not doing yourself, the positions you advocate, or the candidates you support any favors with bad writing, Kathy.
I know you're concerned about my "bad writing" Anonymoose 9:48pm. Whereas, I'm somewhat concerned about your "bad ideas".
9/13/10, 6:52pm....Anonymoose you said "Either that or this town is full of Libertarians. Libertarians want to get rid of the 14th amendment, and Social Security. Among other things. Let's hope these views don't translate to local City of Pacifica issues."
"..nonymous 6:19opm" has concerns about "being intelligible to the reader", and offers no ideas. Socrates 5:56pm wants a discussion to develop, but doesn't develop a discussion.
All of these, or one-and-the-same have chosen to hide behind anonymous names, complain about my comments, and add nothing to the conversation. As Anonymoose said on this article twice "wow".
You are misattributing quotes to me, Kathy. I never said "Either that or this town is full of Libertarians...." You got the date of 9/13/10 wrong (try 11/13/10) and I never said "wow".
You are not careful about what you write. That exemplifies the problem.
Well, there is a way to handle the "Kathy posts too much muddled info" issues, don't post here. If we stop commenting, maybe Kathy will stop having something to respond to.
Just a thought, I think I'll try it.
"Moose" 11:57pm, you're right on this one, I picked-up an "Anonymous" posting while focusing elsewhere. Given the negative attention from you, I don't really care. That "exemplifies" another reason for you using your own name, and/or focusing and posting comments on topics-- rather than me.
Your negative attention is a total waste of time for all concerned (including me). If you've got something to say worth the rest of us reading, as one anonymous said (with regard to the actual article topic) "get on with it."
Yes I make some typos, and string long sentences together, and apparently we have some political differences-- get over it. We are not all equal in our ability to deliver clarity and excellent English, as you perceive it. You have every opportunity to express opinion and ideas here, which may be enhanced or challenged. How about more of that?
To all of you chicken shit Anonymouses......
I don't agree with everything Kathy says but at least she has the guts to stand behind her statements with her true identity. It doesn't take one ounce of courage to hide behind a tree and throw rocks. This rotten Council and all of their phony enviro "I got mine" sycophants have wrecked our city. Kathy has been a tireless critic of these idiots and I'm grateful for that.
Grow a pair. Identify yourselves and be counted.
Oh goody. Now we have Triumph the insult comic dog. Arf!
