In Honor of National Trails Day - it was Saturday did you miss it?

 Pacifica Trail Run, only costs $30-$55. http://www.pctrailruns.com/Pacifica_Smmr.htm  .....You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes and salt, water, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink. If you would like to be sure that you have Clif product, SaltStick capsules, or any other specific item at the event, you should carry it with you. Additionally, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations.  Photo
 
Awards: T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. Award medals are given to the 1st female and male finishers overall and in each age group. Ribbons are also awarded to the 2nd & 3rd place finishers in each age group. All 50 Km finishers will receive a custom coaster for the event.

 San Francisco volunteers pulled weeds on fragile trails, 6/5/10.
 By lunchtime, the volunteers had stuffed weeds into more than a dozen large bags. Some had cleared weeds from the Ecology Trail along one edge of the meadow and looked in satisfaction at what was now a more weed-free trail.Yet weeds still lined the other side of the trail. The meadow still resembled a hayfield. In the end, said volunteer Peggy Clifford of Redwood City, beating the weeds is not the point. Wiping the sweat from her face, she said, "This is fun!" When I first discovered this event a few years ago, I talked to Elaine Larsen at the Trib and wondered why the city doesn't capitalize on this event. No promotion, no assistance, not even a mention at a City Council meeting.
