"Pacifica may be best known for its beaches, but its surrounding hills are impressive too.

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Bay Area running organization Urban Coyote Racing will host the Pacifica Summit Run in the very hilly San Pedro Valley Park. Runners will compete in four events: a 10K, a half-marathon, a 30K, and, for the most intrepid, a 50K. Cumulative elevation gains during the race will range from 1,200 feet for 10K runners to 7,000 feet for 50K runners.

Registration is open until Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. After Aug. 31, the fees are $50 for the 10K, $60 for the half-marathon, $70 for the 30K and $80 for the 50K. Promotional material for the race says the course will feature 'big surprises around every turn,' with 'postcard views of the Pacific Ocean coastline.'
