City of Pacifica, currently posted on City Focus, public notice: Linda Mar Blvd Pavement Rehabilitation:
Yes, we're waiting for another grant to pave the other two-thirds (2/3) of Linda Mar Blvd |
Other neighborhoods next as needed, maybe |
Bid RFP, scope of the project: "Along Linda Mar Boulevard from De Solo Drive to Adobe Drive."
City Council Agenda, summary bid award, 7/14/14, pages 3: G. Bortolotto & Co., scope of the project from Linda Mar Shopping Center to Hermosa Drive. Hence, it seems one more block of the Linda Mar Boulevard will not be being rehabilitated. What is being rehabilitated (paved) is Linda Mar Blvd from De Solo Drive to Hermosa Drive only, about one-third (1/3) of Linda Mar Boulevard, see Google map. Gee, what was all the fuss about leading up to this several blocks only rehabilitation on Linda Mar Blvd?
Related article - Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, 8/5/14. "Linda Mar repaving begins Monday." The repaving of Linda Mar Boulevard is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday. A pre-construction meeting with the contractor, G. Bortolotto and Company, occurred this week, said Van Ocampo, director of public works. The first few weeks of construction will include concrete demolition and the construction of curb ramps. The area from Hermosa Avenue west is the area to be improved on Linda Mar Boulevard."

LM Blvd to Hermosa. What's that, like a third of the blvd length? Why bother? Save the money til the whole thing can be done right. Oh, yeah. Funds might get misplaced.
Correct 629, the Linda Mar Boulevard Rehabilitation Project (De Solo Drive to Hermosa) turns out to be 1/3 of Linda Mar Blvd-- only 2/3rds to go. Thanks for that further clarification, now noted on the article. Cutting through the glowing city council conversational brainwashing that "Linda Mar Blvd was being rehabilitated" was a bit hard to cut through.
If you've been driving through the city outside your own neighborhood, you know the roads all over the city need "rehabilitation". What happened to our city road money?
This council is so full of it. Bragging about fixing 1/3rd of LM Blvd like no one would notice the rest of the road is still like a rutted cow path. Where'd the money go?
Street repair money probably went to favored consultants.
The middle of Linda Mar Blvd. is really bad. Up by the Sanchez Art Center is falling apart fast.
The city diverted 1 million dollars a year for street maintence and put it into the general fund to pay bills.
They have done this the last 15 years.
1056 favored consultants who said fix the friggin road why dontcha!
620 Of course they have. Guess that's the dreaded inter-fund lending we're now hearing about. Nothing new, but now it's got a name. It's been standard operating procedure for more than a decade in this town. And knowing that makes council's public confession about the 4 million kind of amusing and just a little suspicious.
You'd think this city could do better by LM Blvd which is one of Pacifica's most important streets. Connects highway one to the rest of the valley, densely populated area with shopping center, park and ride, Adobe Center, Alma Heights schools, fire station, large nursery, Adobe historic site, public art and performance center, dog park, San Pedro Valley Park, St. Peter's, Park Pacifica. Nary a storage unit or trailer park in sight. No apartments. Generally very well-kept homes and yards from one end to the other. Gee, it's about as close as this city comes to that main street this council keeps trying to invent--at the risk of bankrupting Pacifica. A vital, vibrant boulevard right here under their noses and this council has it looking and riding more like a third world camel track every day.
Council spent the money and still thought they had it.Denial! Now Council wants sewer fund in general fund so the shell game continues.
lipstick on a pig!
951 Be that as it may, it's the best looking pig in this town. Pretty up that porker!
947 They knew. And some of them actually understood what it meant. Now, we know we're broke. It's official.
Owners of empty parcels or under-utilized property on Palmetto have been holding onto their property for decades waiting for the bonanza. Linda Mar Blvd is already built out. No development bonanza coming to Palmetto. The city can't even finish the streetscape. The Beach Blvd thing is pie in the sky that'll prevent any development there. Tacky apts and revolving door mixed-use in Palmetto's future.
LindaMar Blvd is in desperate need of repair. I, for one, am happy to hear this. Tired of driving in the middle of the road. I take up two lanes. I don't care. Pull me over. I have to save my tires.
We're happy for any scraps in Pacifica. What a town!
What you see is what you get on Palmetto.
Karen Ervin, promised to turn Palmetto into our new downtown.
Now do you see all politicans are full of shit.
752, Karen Ervin has served two years of four. One of her priorities is to promote economic development: Smart Voter, 2012.
And considering the the economic condition of this city, isn't it the case that your comment is way too inadequate, nasty and simplistic?
752 if you were paying attention you would know that the reason the Palmetto project was stopped is because of a 2 million dollar shortfall which happened on Sue Digre's watch over 7 years ago and was just discovered. Shit happens.
The very reasons why the city is busted broke dirty and bankrupt. Inept City Council members and city council apologists.
Haha shit happens? Yeah, during the last 10 years council has stepped in a lot of it. Grew that original 2 million booboo into 4 million and kept it quiet. Has anything changed? Other than a public confession, not really, because they're still borrowing to pay the bills. The shit is still happening. And it will continue.
The deficit was just discovered? I love fairy tales.
Typical stumblebumble Pacifica. Council decides to come clean about a 4 million deficit that they all own and no one is concerned about wrong-doing or a cover-up. Even in an election year, that's amazing. Too busy pimping the next hapless hero.
Well Len never pulled papers so he is out!
What's that about? Who's running?
i hope nobody else runs. There's too many now. Notice the nimby's can count, they only ran one candidate. The rest are going to divide up the non nimby vote.
Len has til the end of the day I think but it doesn't look like he's running. He could have told someone if he cared.
Matthew Dougherty pulled papers today. Who is he?

Therese Dyer has qualified. A newcomer, (at least I never heard of him) Mathew Dougherty has also pulled papers.
We really need more concerned citizens who are "grabbing the bull by the horns"."Stepping up to the plate"requires confidence that you can hit the ball!It must be bad when everyone thinks they can do better job on Pacifica Council!
City Hall closes at 12 or 1 today! It is over, Len is not running!
now nominations are extended to aug 13th since Len bailed
City Hall and most other City offices closes at 1:30 on Friday. They are open until 7:00 on Wednesdays. I think this is a win win for both the public, who can't get to the offices during regular 9-5 hours and a early start to the weekend for the employees.
