The case was heard last Friday in San Mateo County Superior Court in the courtroom of Judge Marie Weiner. Both sides did not finish presenting their cases to Judge Weiner, so the case has been continued to next Friday, August 29 at 2 p.m.
.... Derek Van Hoften (Caltrans) replied all the
issues brought up by Pacificans for a Scenic Coast (PSC) and by Judge Weiner
were adequately covered in the EIR. Those issues include cooperating
with utility companies to move water mains, storm drains and sewer
lines. Also, cultural impacts were addressed, but not to the specificity
challenged by Pacificans for a Scenic Coast (PSC). In addition, Caltrans did
analyze neighboring wetlands for potential impacts to wildlife, despite
the contention raised by Brian Gafney (PSC)." Read article.
Update - Pacifica Riptide/Peter Loeb, Correspondent, 8/30/14. ".... The
judge has 90 days after the hearing to deliver her ruling, so the
outcome may not be known until the end of November. But a ruling could
come much sooner than that. .... .... The PSC lawsuit is unlikely to stop the project, but a second
group, Pacificans for Highway 1 Alternatives (PH1A, is doing a variety
of things to stop the project, including trying to get the city to apply
for grant money to hire a traffic consultant to evaluate all
alternatives for reducing traffic, raising the issue in the current City
Council race, and considering a referendum or initiative on the
project."

Fingers crossed they throw this out like the garbage it is.
Judge Weiner has 90 days from the end of the court hearing in which to render her judgement.
