Regarding item 7, the Coastal Commission staff had communicated with the city several times about the Holiday Inn expansion with very specific ways to ensure the project conformed to the state's Coastal Act and Pacifica's Local Coastal Program.
The most recent letter was dated My 6. 2013 and addressed to Planning Director White.
These delays are a crock! This is a good project. A clear-cut improvement to that area. Our prime visitor-serving area. Big thanks to the owners for trying to do this in this asylum. They could easily put the bucks into another property and not have the grief from our nut jobs. Glad to see the Council try to move it along. We need all of the revenue that will accompany this expansion, particularly that TOT money. Too bad the target of Bray's other crusade isn't including another hotel on The Rock.
The coastal commission approved it until some vagabond appealed it.
As did the Planning Commission and city council.
Rantanon @ 8:36 AM incorrectly states, "The coastal commission approved it." Meaning the Holiday Inn expansion in Rockaway.
This is not rue. Once the Planning Commission approved the hotel expansion it had to submit a FINAL LOCAL ACTION report to the Coastal Commission for review.
Rantanon @ 10:02 PM incorrectly declares, "These delays are a crock!" The city waited 10 business days before filing the FINAL LOCAL ACTION report with the Coastal Commission staff who would at that time review the Planning Commissions action. The city waited 10 days to allow for a local appeal to council which is standard practice.
Since the planning commission ignored most if not all of the recommendations made to Planning Director White in a letter dated June 6, 2013 by CCC staff who were very specific about how the project needs to change to comply with state law.
I wonder if the commissioners got a copy of the May 6, 2013 letter in time to properly review it and the expansion before voting to approve it?

Anon 10:50. Seriously you need to understand the law better. Mr. Bray and anybody else has the right to comment on any proposed project, to appeal a project in the coastal zone to the Coastal Commission, and many other actions. If you think that's "meddling" you don't understand the first thing about the planning process. I'd love to see a developer try to sue someone for "meddling" in a project. They'd be laughed out of court.
Let's assume everyone is just following the law. Since Mr. Bray seems to be knowledgeable about the details, would he share with us the conditions the CCC placed on this project? Does he have any proof the city withheld the CCC letter from the PC prior to their vote approving the project?
